After a long and grueling day, I finally arrived in San Diego yesterday!
I had a super early flight and I did that thing where you have a dream about missing your fight, wake up two hours too early, then are too paranoid to go back to sleep. Tell me I’m not the only one who’s ever suffered through that torture.
The trip itself was fairly uneventful, though, and before I knew it I’d landed in San Diego! After picking up my rental car and checking into my hotel, I was super happy to see that not only am I on the top floor, I have a view of the bay from my room. Not a bad way to spend eight days!
Realizing my body thought it was three hours later than what the clock said, I ventured out for some food. A couple blocks away, I stumbled on a taco place that looked perfect. I ordered myself a Corona and an order of ceviche and chips. Both were exactly what I needed after a long day of flights, crowds, and airports!
After lunch, I met up with a good friend and former co-worker, Allie. Allie’s from the San Diego area and drove down to hang out with me for a little while. We used to work together when she lived in VA for two years and we all miss her a ton!
Even though it’s been a couple years since I saw her, it’s like we picked right up where we’d left off. She’s such a great girl and I loved catching up with her! We walked around the Gaslamp area for a bit before deciding on a wine bar with a patio.
It was the perfect way to kick off my week in California!
I was pretty beat afterwards and spent the rest of the evening relaxing in my room. I also had to discover the hard way that I should’ve brought my laptop on this trip. This post is coming to you courtesy of the hotel business center since I realized how impossible this is to do via iPad. I’ll have to reconsider my blogging strategy moving forward this week, but if you don’t see much of me it’s cause the limited technology is driving me crazy. And all because I didn’t want to carry around extra stuff at the airport.
Anway, I’ve got a fun day on tap for today. I plan on exploring the city a bit via a run, then I’ll be heading up closer to La Jolla area to meet up again with Allie for dinner. She’s promised me a dinner spot with a view, so I can’t wait. Have a great Monday!
What were you up to this weekend?
