Happy Monday! I had a great weekend filled with fun, friends, relaxation, and plenty of Christmas-y stuff. Let’s get to it!
Saturday, I attended a hot vinyasa class, then headed up to Richmond to see some of my girlfriends. I visited my friend Danielle before heading to my friend Mary’s house. We headed out to Cary Town for lunch at a placed call C Street.
We ordered a cheese plate for an appetizer, which was super tasty.
For my entree I had a baby kale salad with grilled shrimp on top.
After heading home, Riley and I had date night at home, with dinner and a movie. We made some steak burritos and I made mine into more of a salad. We enjoyed dinner while watching Let’s Be Cops, which was pretty funny.
Sunday included a super lazy morning filled with coffee by the fireplace, reading, and sipping coffee while Riley made brunch. He made omelets, bacon, and these fried potato things that were freakin’ amazing.
After a lazy day at home Sunday, I headed out to Colonial Williamsburg with a co-worker to take in the yearly Grand Illuminations tradition.
Every year, Williamsburg lights up the whole town on one night and celebrates with fireworks that get shot off in three different locations. One thing you should know about me: I turn into a 7 year-old child when there are fireworks. Complete with clapping and plastering a giant grin on my face. I went through a phase in college where I was convinced I would work at Disney World so I could end every day with fireworks. I quickly realized that I was too tall to qualify for most of the Disney Princess roles, so that didn’t work out.
We had a blast walking around town and sipping our wine, which we smuggled in. Apparently you can buy wine in mini boxes that resemble juice boxes, so of course we were all in.
To say I was unprepared for the cold, though, would be a huge understatement. It felt great to finally get back inside a few hours later! Riley made us some hot chocolate and I spent the rest of Sunday night relaxing in front of the fire.
It felt great to spend some time with friends and enjoy some Christmas festivities. I didn’t do any of the Christmas shopping I’d planned, but it was so great to catch up with friends instead. Grand Illuminations is one of my favorite Williamsburg events, and it totally put me in the holiday spirit.
I’m headed to Richmond for some work receptions all day and plan on getting in a good workout before I hit the road. Have a great Monday!
