Hey there! Sorry I missed you all yesterday. I’ve been in a bit of a funk these past few days and after a very short weekend I just didn’t have a lot to say. It’s been a pretty sad few days because Riley’s grandmother passed away. We said goodbye to her at the service last night and while Riley’s doing well for the most part, I know this is still really hard on him.
After working late Friday, then most of Saturday, I knew I needed to take care of myself. It’s hard to fit in a nearly 60-hour work week, commuting, blogging, working out, and getting things done at home, so I’ve realized down time is crucial. As much as I want to do it all, sometimes it’s just not possible without losing my sanity. I’d had grand plans to go for a run outside after work on Saturday, but after spending all day on my feet at work, I chose nap time instead. Luckily, I have a little cat who’s always willing to snuggle with me.
Riley grilled out Saturday night and I made a quick salad of cucumber, tomato, and onion with a vinegar/oil dressing.
I slept in on Sunday and spent the morning lounging in my yoga pants, browsing Pinterest, and reading. Riley made us some delicious breakfast sandwiches while I vegged out. So bad for you, but it was deliciously cheesy and perfect.
Once the sun came out Sunday afternoon, we got to work in the backyard. We trimmed trees, bushes, pulled weeds, raked, and got everything ready for spring and summer. Even though I skipped yoga, two hours of yard work definitely counts as a workout!
Sunday night we had some grilled London broil, roasted potatoes, and roasted carrots. After some reading and TV, I headed to bed early, ready to do it all over again.
Weekly Workout Plan
I’m making a plan this week, but I’ll also allow myself some flexibility. I’ve been super tired lately and I think my body is begging for just a few extra minutes of sleep every night.
- Monday- rest
- Tuesday- hot yoga
- Wednesday- 30 minute treadmill run and kettlebell circuit
- Thursday- Elliptical intervals and ab work
- Friday- HIIT run and upper body workout
- Saturday- Off/walking
- Sunday- Hot yoga flow
Depending on how my week goes, some of these workouts might turn into 30 minute walks with Bella instead, but I’m ok with it. Like I said, sometimes you just need to dial it back a bit when things get crazy.
Have a good one!
What workout are you most excited about this week? I’m looking forward to hot yoga. I haven’t been in a week and a half, so I definitely want to get back to twice a week.
What’s the best thing you ate over the weekend?
