Well, I went from doing a lot of nothing to doing everything. Sorry I missed you guys yesterday, but I was too busy binge-watching Netflix on Sunday to write a Monday post.
I’ll breeze through the weekend recap because there’s not much to tell. I did a whole bunch of boring, but essential stuff (haircut, oil change, grocery shopping, etc.). In between the errands, I did….
And Netflix. Specifically, this show-
Yes, it’s a show for teenagers and I am 30 years old. It’s whatever. I’ve started and now I can’t stop, soooo….
Anyway, that’s why I didn’t have a lot to talk about from my weekend. Aside from the handful of useful things I covered, the rest of my time was spent being completely lazy and useless. It felt pretty good, but then Monday was a rude awakening.
I went from being a lady of leisure to being swamped. We had our yearly preparation meeting at work yesterday, which meant spending all day in a meeting room with my 21 colleagues pouring over numbers and data. There was unlimited coffee and free lunch, though, so I’m not complaining. We had veggie lasagna, salad, and breadsticks.
There was also cherry pie, which I helped myself to. I hadn’t eaten dessert in ages, and then suddenly I had that one massive cookie thing last week and now I want sweets constantly. Anyone else go through weird sugar phases like that? I need to go cold turkey on the dessert for a couple days before this gets out of hand…
By the time I got home (late) and walked in the door, I was so antsy from sitting all day and also feeling very stressed out about the 12+ meetings and appointments I already have scheduled for the next few days. I laced up my sneakers, turned on my favorite angry music (Rage Against The Machine) and went for a run around the neighborhood.
I wasn’t in the mood for a steady run, so I ran fast during the chorus of the songs and slowed it down during the verses. I have a big hill leading up to my house, so I did some sprints and intervals at the end before calling it quits.
It felt great to get nice and sweaty after my long day. I normally never exercise after work, but it was definitely needed yesterday!
Today I’m back at my early workout sessions, which will always be my favorites. On today’s agenda is a quick run and possibly a kettlebell circuit. Then it’s off to the office for a busy and meeting-filled day. Even though it was nice to have a quiet summer, I am loving the sight of all our new freshmen week. Nice to have a little life back on campus!
