Hey friends! Sorry I missed you yesterday. I would’ve been typing up my post for you Sunday night, but I was super busy. And by super busy I mean I was watching Gilmore Girls and couldn’t be bothered to do actual productive things. It’s an obsession that’s bordering on unhealthy.
I needed this past weekend so badly, you guys don’t even know! As much as I love blogging, sometimes the constant social media, commenting, editing, etc. can take too much time. It felt good to step away from the laptop for a full weekend and just enjoy being in the moment.
Friday night was Riley and I’s date for the Williamsburg Harvest Celebration, so as soon as I got home from work we changed and headed out.
I had a delicious warm mushroom salad, oysters, a Philly roll (like a Philly cheese steak, but in the form of an egg roll), and duck sausage. It was all pretty awesome. The best part was getting out of the house with Riley and enjoying some great conversation as we hopped from place to place. With him working weekends most of the time, it’s crucial that we carve out that time together. I’m a firm believer
Saturday and Sunday were filled with beautiful, chilly fall weather. In addition to the usual weekend chores, I made a point to get outside a lot, relax, read, and just enjoy a slower pace for a couple days.
Sunday I met up with my sister for a couple hours since she was in town with her boyfriend for the weekend. I also made some pretty awesome chili in the slow cooker on Sunday, along with some corn muffins.
It’s time for me to start practicing so I can finally win my office’s annual chili cookoff!
And that’s about it. I mostly stayed off social media, took very few pictures, and I loved it. As we approach the holidays, I’ll probably be having more of these weekends so I can retain my sanity. Here’s to vegging out and not feeling sorry about it!
What did you do this weekend?
How often do you “unplug” from social media?
