One of my absolute favorite times of the year is right now. At this point in spring, the little green buds have popped up on just about every tree and the world looks alive again. People start cutting their grass again, planting flowers, and getting ready for summer. It’s amazing and this weekend I soaked up as much of it as possible!
Friday was a late night at work, but I was treated to the gorgeousness that is campus at night.
Saturday was our last admission event of the year- admitted freshman day. It was a really successful day! After power-cleaning the house, a shower, and a mini nap, I celebrated the end of events season with some champagne at home.
Sunday morning I woke up feeling motivated to make the most of a perfect spring day. The fact that I only had one day off made me extra motivated!
Once Riley left for work, I did some shopping, then took Bella out for a walk.
I spent the rest of the afternoon tackling our outdoor space. The weeds in my flower beds were out of control and my big pots needed some cleaning up as well. I got way into it and ended up buying a bunch of herbs and veggie plants at Home Depot.
Before you say anything….I know I’m moving in 2 months. The thought crossed my mind multiple times when I was planting jalapenos and tomatoes, but I figured 2 months is still 2 months I’m living in our current house and I want it to be nice while we’re still here! Riley thinks I’m nuts, but I’m hopeful I can transport all our plants to the new house without too much hassle. Anyone who has experience doing this, please share!
I spent the remaining daylight sitting on the deck, chatting with my mom on the phone, and soaking in some sun. The pets love it when we have days like this because the back door stays open and they get to sunbathe outside with me. It was super sunny and breezy all day, so I was basically in heaven and so was Coco. One of my favorite things is when a breeze comes through and I catch all the pets with their eyes closed and heads turned towards the sun.
It seemed like the whole town had the same idea as me. Everyone was out spreading mulch, trimming bushes, and getting their gardens ready. It was a great way to spend my day off!
Now that Monday’s back again, it’s time to get back to work. Most high school students are on spring break this week, so we’ll be crazy busy with visitors. Here’s hoping it goes well!
I sat down last night to go over a few goals for the week. I try to do this on Sunday evenings and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, the ritual helps me focus prior to the start of the work week. Here are my goals for the week ahead:
- Pack a healthy lunch each day. This was a problem last week…
- Go to a yoga class
- Run 3x
- Drink more tea than coffee
Nothing too lofty on that list, but I’m feeling optimistic. Alright, time to dive into the day. Have a great Monday!
