This weekend was low-key and also filled with a lot of fun. Riley ended up taking Saturday off from work, so we had the whole weekend together. I ate waaay too much, but it was worth it.
I started the weekend-long food fest on Friday when I saw there was a food truck thing going on at work. I made a beeline for the Puerto Rican truck and got a chicken burrito which was amazing. Afterwards, a co-worker and I went in on a mini cupcake sampler from another truck. One of my favorites was the snickerdoodle cupcake. It was brilliant and I need to find a recipe.
Saturday started out with the usual hot yoga. We had a substitute this week and I felt like she really rushed through a lot of my favorite parts so I was a little disappointed. It was still a great way to start the day, though, and I can definitely feel myself improving even doing it just once a a week.
Saturday evening, Riley and I headed over to Busch Gardens to experience the Howl-O-Scream festivities.
I tried to get more pictures, but Riley was a party pooper and told me we shouldn’t be “those people.” Spoiling all my fun. I managed to sneak this one in, though. Haha, doesn’t Riley look so pleased?
After checking out a few roller coasters, we ended up in a section with all the old-timey carnival rides, including the tea cup ride and this one, which I don’t remember the name.
We had so much fun laughing, enjoying the rides, and just walking around together. Once it got dark, the scary stuff started. I don’t get scared very easily (except for the actors with the chain saws. Those freaked me out), but we went through a haunted house and walked through all the themed sections to see the sights.
One section had me thoroughly confused, though. We came around a corner to see a crowd of people cheering, rave music playing, and this man dressed up like a demon, gyrating, as if he were about to start a strip show. Whaaa??
Magic Mike: The Halloween Edition? Riley tried to move us on quickly, but curiosity had me saying, “well hang on babe, let’s just see what happens….” Ha! So much for a family park.
Sunday was football day and Riley was at home all day instead of hanging out with his friends. It was another day of stuffing my face, but again, worth it. I made some quacamole to go with tortilla chips. The real star of the show, however, was this little baby.
I have a recipe for pepperoni pizza pull-apart bread on my Pinterest board and had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to make it. As soon as it came out of the oven I knew it would be amazing and holy. cow. Cheesy, gooey, doughy. It was everything you would expect from looking at the pictures.
A couple of these drinks and I was a happy girl.
Now it’s back to reality. I’ve got a quick treadmill workout and some ab work on the agenda before heading in to the office.
Have a good one!
