Snow. The bane of my existence. The snow they said would “all melt” overnight Friday with the rain. Lies, all of it.
I spent my weekend completely cooped up, shoveling sidewalks, digging out cars, and constantly cleaning my floors. The cats decided they were being tortured and spent hours staring out the window, begging to go out, then begging to come back in 30 seconds later.
I realize, of course, that I’m being completely dramatic. So many people got hit by the storm way worse than we did, but I’ve been dreaming of sunny beaches and warmth for days now.
Ever the optimist, I tried to think of the two upsides to being snowed in all weekend. The first was that Riley stayed home from work yesterday and we got to hang out all day. The second was this little lady:
Bella was thrilled with the snow. She was so excited about it, she managed to get both me and Riley to take her for a walk around the neighborhood. She frolicked like a puppy and for 20 whole minutes, I thought, “maybe this isn’t so bad!”
But then I spent an hour outside shoveling yesterday and was totally over it.
To make this Monday even more fun, I’m starting out without a snow delay, even though EVERYONE else in Hampton Roads has one. Plus, this week begins the spring semester event season, which means I’ll be working quite a few Saturdays in the months to come. Jeez, I sound like a total Debbie Downer, I know. Somebody send me some vitamin D supplements or a sun lamp or something. Or wine. How was your weekend? Tell me it was warm and full of sunshine and adventure, that way I can live vicariously through you.
Since my feeble attempt at a weekend recap was so short, let’s talk about workouts! I counted the walking and snow shoveling as workouts, but I’m anxious to get in some more activity this week once the gym and yoga studio reopen.
Here’s what’s on my tentative agenda for the week:
- Monday- Off
- Tuesday- Barre class
- Wednesday- HIIT Run and kettlebell work at the gym
- Thursday- Easy cardio and leg work at the gym
- Friday- Hot vinyasa
- Saturday- Off
- Sunday- Barre class
Have a great Monday and stay warm, my friends!
What are your general feelings towards snow?
What did you do this weekend?
What’s your favorite workout these days? I’ve been all about the low-key workouts, like barre and hot yoga. I can feel the itch to do some more running coming on, but for the past couple weeks it’s been all about the yoga/barre studio!
