Weekends are fantastic, aren’t they? Some weekends you pack your hours with activities and chores, others you veg out and relax as much as possible. I’ve found over the years that a weekend with both sides ends up being the most satisfying!
This past weekend was a combo of productive and fun. Saturday was spent mostly doing household chores, but Saturday night involved a tasty drink, the fireplace, and binge-watching some funny tv shows. Part of my chores involved decorating the front porch outside with festive lights and garland.
Sunday started off slowly, with coffee and peppermint mocha creamer by the fire. Then it was online shopping for the win! I got most of the family presents taken care of by noon, before getting ready for the day.
Later in the afternoon, my cousin Mallory drove in to hang out with me for Grand Illuminations. We stopped at a couple places for wine before venturing into the ginormous crowds for the fireworks.
So fun! We were able to stand right in the middle of town, which showed us the 15 minute firework display from three different locations. I prefer to be in the moment for things like fireworks, so I don’t have any actual pictures. I got a video or two, but for the most part I just stood, clapping my hands, and acting as excited as the 10 year-olds standing behind us.
Williamsburg is such a fun little town! My cousin compared it to living in Stars Hollow, which is not horribly inaccurate. If any of you have watched Gilmore Girls you should know that yes, Williamsburg is frequently like that. With a lot less nosiness, personal business intrusion, and meddling. It does, however, have a lot of weird character behavior, such as colonial-garb dressed people purchasing craft beer at my local Food Lion while wearing their knickers or petticoats from work. I will not pretend that we are normal, but I can promise that we are unique.
Anyway, after the fireworks we headed back to my house, where I hung out with Riley for a few hours before calling it a night.
Today is a fun way to kick off the work week! I’ll be spending today at the Jefferson Hotel for work. I’ll share more about my day on Wednesday, so for now, have a great Monday!
