Happy Friday! We’ve made it to the weekend. I usually count Friday as a weekend day because it improves my mood, so just go with it.
The thigh gap jean…
So, you remember my good friend Katie from Vegas? She does these really funny sketches out in LA with JustBoobs Sketch comedy group. Her most recent one came out a few days ago and got featured on Huffington Post Women and Jezebel. Check it out here:
I loved this video because it points out the total ridiculousness of the thigh gap and the lengths women will go to to achieve it. Sadly, I now have this image in my mind of designers creating “thigh compression” jeans. Or something.
Noodles and Company
Have you ever been to a Noodles and Company? I’d been once, a long time ago, but one opened up near my work, so I went again on Thursday. That one meal got me totally hooked. I ordered one of their special offerings, the Thai Hot Pot. The description said: Signature curry broth, cabbage, sprouts, peppers, shiitake mushrooms, rice noodles, pulled chicken and pork, lime wedge and cilantro. Served with a side of toasted Asian flatbread. Sold!
Whatever is in that coconut curry broth they make, I need it in bulk. It was so good. If anyone finds a copycat recipe, please tell me!
Steps pedometer app
I recently downloaded a pedometer app called Steps. I really want one of those fitbits, but I’m cheap, sooo….. free app it is! It’s done a fairly accurate job of counting all my steps so far. The biggest downside? It’s really freakin’ hard to reach 10,000 steps a day when you have a desk job.
Yeah, that 9,134 was on a day that I walked all over campus during the work day, then came home and ran for 20 minutes. I find myself pacing around my office just to get the steps in, which I guess is probably the point.
Perfect sunny weather
Even better than pacing my office is walking around campus. I’m constantly reminded how lucky I am to work at a place that makes the post-lunch walk so awesome.
The weather has been perfect for it this week. Cool and fall-ish in the mornings, then mid- 70’s by the afternoon. I’ll be taking the long way to get to all my meetings as long as this weather holds up.
Saturdays off with Riley
This just in, Riley’s days off have changed yet again! Instead of Sundays off, he now has Saturday. This is normally my hot yoga/errands/productivity day, so I’ll have to make some adjustments, but I’m glad to still have a day off with him.
Is it bad that I’m already starting to think of ideas for our anniversary vacation? Only having one day off together is generally a bummer and I’m looking forward to May when we can spend a whole week just relaxing and partying it up. It already feels like forever ago we were in Mexico doing this:
Take me back to the beach, please.
Well, I’ve rambled on enough, so it’s time to get this weekend started! I have no real plans, but I’ve got a 13 day work streak coming up, so I’ll be bummin’ it in my yoga pants, watching Scandal on DVR. No shame.
Have a lovely weekend!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Where should we go on vacation? Riley’s current ideas are Key West or the Bahamas.
Do you track your steps? How often do you hit 10,000? I give it about two weeks before I get bored with my app, but I’m totally into it right now.
