Heeeey, Happy Monday! It is Monday, right? I’ve been losing track of the days since I don’t have to work until next Monday. As a result, my days have turned into “hot yoga day” or “clean out the guest room” day.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas, or just a great weekend if you don’t celebrate Christmas. Mine was a three day affair, filled with food, friends, family, and just generally loving life. I also spent a lot of time spoiling my fur babies.
The first celebration was on Wednesday, when I came up to Richmond for the annual Christmas Eve Eve girl’s night. I’ve been doing this every year since before I can remember and it’s one of the things I look forward to the most. I grew up with Katie, Mary, and Carol Ann and I love getting together with them once a year to catch up on life.
Christmas Eve, Riley and I headed back up to Richmond to do Christmas with my side of the family. We met up with my parents at Cinebistro to see Star Wars. I have to say, it’s THE nicest movie theater I’ve ever been to. It’s adults only, full service food, and super comfy chairs. It’s so fancy they have a guy passing out mints as you leave the theater. It was the perfect way to kick off the festivities!
After the movie we hung out at my parent’s house. My sister and niece got home just in time for dinner, then afterwards we opened presents.
One of my favorite traditions is the Jack Horner Pie. No idea why it’s called that, but basically it’s a big bowl filled with gifts and everyone has to find their name on the string, then we all pull at the same time to see what we got.
I didn’t get nearly enough pictures, but we had a great time just hanging out together.
Christmas morning started out with just me and Riley. We put the coffee on and gave the pets their presents. Bella loved her new toy.
Coco ignored her new scratching post, playing with the paper instead.
Captain disappeared outside and didn’t come back in until we left, so no presents for him.
Riley got me a waffle maker, though, which I was so excited about! I put it to good use for our Christmas breakfast. Now I just need to go back and find all the yummy recipes I’ve seen and thought, “Ahhh if only I had a waffle maker!”
After spending a few hours at home, we ventured out to Riley’s dad’s house to see all the other kids and open presents. It was like a tornado hit after all the kids got through their gifts!
We stopped at Riley’s mom’s house briefly, but he was quickly coming down with a cold so we got home so he could rest.
The rest of my weekend was spent organizing the house and cleaning up all the Christmas stuff. Yep, I’m one of those people. As soon as Christmas is over, it’s all coming down! My house is now spotless and ready to be de-cluttered one room at a time. I also got in some quality snuggles with the little guy, as well as lots of reading.
Today’s agenda is looking pretty awesome- hot yoga, organizing house stuff, and finding a new book to read. Ahhh, vacation!
What was the highlight of your weekend?
How did you spend your Christmas?
What’s the last movie you saw in theaters? I thought Star Wars was good, but not as amazing as everyone said. I really want to see the Sisters movie!
