Hey friends, happy Monday! Even though I’m sad to see the weekend end, it was really nice to have two days off and relax. I’m also feeling great heading into the work week after getting pleeeenty of rest.
Some of the highlights from my weekend included a date night with Riley. It was pretty sad realizing we hadn’t gone out together since New Year’s. We got a gift card to Carrabba’s from my parents so we decided to use it Saturday night. To start, we enjoyed a bottle of wine and some of their amazing bread/olive dipping oil. Sorry, but I can’t go to an Italian restaurant and not eat the bread. #carbs4life
I decided to keep my entree a little healthier and ordered the Chicken Bryan, one of their “under 600 calories” options. It was chicken breast topped with goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil. I got mine served with steamed spinach on the side. And of course, I said “yes” to the shredded parmesan on top.
It was really good! The creamy goat cheese made the whole dish for me and I loved that I didn’t feel uncomfortably full afterwards.
Sunday morning was a productive one. I got my oil changed super early to avoid a wait, then went to a 90 minute hot flow class. And just for you guys, I managed to snap a selfie at my yoga studio to show you my newest Fabletics outfit.
I love love love the top. The leggings are a bit too long, but they’re really comfortable.
The rest of Sunday was spent hanging out at home with Riley. We took Bella on a quick little hike through the wooded areas behind our house, I went to Trader Joe’s, and I got Riley hooked on Sons of Anarchy with me (yesssss, I’ve converted him!!). He also made yet another delicious homemade pizza. Bless you, Chef Riley. I think I will stay with you forever.
Workout recap and weekly plan
Since last week I outlined my workout plan for the week, I thought I’d fill you in on how it went. It didn’t quite work out the way I’d planned, but I try to allow myself plenty of flexibility with my workouts so that I never feel forced into doing something. Here’s how the week actually turned out:
- Monday – rest
- Tuesday – 6 AM hot yoga class
- Wednesday – rest
- Thursday- 35 minutes on adaptive motion trainer, kettlebell circuit
- Friday- 25 minute interval treadmill run and leg work (hip abductor/adducter, seated leg press, lunges, calf raises)
- Saturday- at home: Jillian Michael’s 30-day shred (level 2) and half of her kettlebell workout
- Sunday – 90 minute hot flow
Apparently getting up early is really hard during the first part of the week. My alarm would go off and I realized there was no way I was getting out of bed that early, so I cut myself some slack and moved my workouts to later in the week. I changed things up, but still got 5 days in and challenged myself.
Here’s my tentative plan going into this week:
- Monday- rest (I’m just gonna own the fact that Mondays are hard enough as it is)
- Tuesday – 6 AM hot yoga class
- Wednesday – 30 minute run and upper body workout
- Thursday – barre class
- Friday – easy cardio and 10 minute abs workout
- Saturday – rest
- Sunday – 90 minute hot yoga flow
And on that note, I’m off. Catch you guys later!
What did you do this weekend?
What do you like to order at Italian restaurants?
What workout are you looking forward to the most this week? I’m really excited about the barre class. I normally wouldn’t make it in time for a 5:45 PM class with my commute, but I have to leave work early for a dentist appointment, so I think I’ll make it!
