I think I needed just one more day this weekend. I’m pretty sure I say that every Monday, right? If only the work week started on Tuesday. I guess for some of you, you might have this day off anyway since it’s MLK day! If you’re off work today, enjoy it for me. I’ll be surrounded by the hundreds of guests visiting campus today since none of them have school or work.
This past weekend was just what I needed. Last week was….rough, to say the least. Luckily, though, Riley and I were able to drive up to D.C. to attend the engagement party of my best friend, Megan, and her fiance, Will. We checked into our hotel right across the Potomac River from Georgetown and took in the view from our hotel before heading out to the party.
The party was hosted by Will’s parents in Arlington. So many people showed up to wish the couple well and congratulate them on the upcoming wedding!
I was able to catch up with some sorority sisters from college who made it out. It was also great to meet two of their new little babies.
After the party, Riley and I changed and met up with everyone at a sports bar, where we had some drinks, watched the football game, and chatted more about wedding stuff. Megan officially asked me to be her maid of honor (eeeee!!), so I’m pumped to start the planning! Not that I didn’t already have a secret Pinterest board in the hopes that I’d be asked….
The next morning, we originally planned to have brunch with Megan and Will, but after seeing snow in the forecast, we pushed it up to an earlier breakfast so we could hit the road.
We met up at Bayou Bakery in Clarendon, which ended up being perfect. We ordered biegnets to share, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches served on homemade biscuits.
The food was so good! I would definitely head back there if given the chance. I loved the vintage, laid-back decor and the mountains of powdered sugar on the beignets.
We left the area just in time. Snow started coming down as soon as we got on the interstate and kept going for hours.
Luckily, it wasn’t sticking to the roads and there was no traffic. It still felt great to curl up in front of the fire for the rest of the day, though.
While it was great to get away for a bit, today starts a new week. I’ve got a tentative workout plan in the works, so I’ll share that before signing off. I say “tentative” because I can’t always predict what kind of workout I’ll be in the mood for. Some people are great at sticking to a set plan. I am not one of those people, sadly, but at least I have a vague idea of what I’ll do.
- Monday- Off
- Tuesday- Barre class
- Wednesday- Run and kettlebell workout
- Thursday- Barre class
- Friday- Hot flow class
- Saturday- Run
- Sunday- Off
