Happy Monday! I’m coming to you a bit later in the morning today, but I just can’t bring myself to open the laptop on the weekends. How was your weekend? Good, I hope. I seriously wish I had 3-day weekends all year round because this summer has been freaking awesome.
Friday morning started out slow with breakfast in bed, courtesy of Riley.
He loves me so.
Around lunch time I got motivated and cleaned the house, did some grocery shopping, and just got life together. My sister and niece came down from Richmond for a couple hours Friday afternoon and we just hung out at the house. My niece played in the little park in our neighborhood and I helped show my sister how to use her new iPhone 7 Plus. She’s finally joined the club!
After they left, I headed out to Jamestown beach for a free concert. Riley met us out there after working late, joining me and our friends Tara and Brendan, Russ and Gretchen, and all their kiddos. They had an 80s band play and it was so much fun to just sit on a blanket, eat some snacks, and enjoy some good music!
The concert wrapped up around 8 and Riley and I headed home for a quiet evening.
Saturday morning started with a trip to the farmer’s market while Riley did yardwork. The flower situation was on point this week! Seriously, I think I need to buy some next time I go.
I came away with a bunch of yummy items, then helped Riley finish up the yardwork before he left for work.
Saturday afternoon, I used a Groupon to treat myself to a mani/pedi that was much needed. They did an awesome job! They are pricier than some other salons I normally go to, but I can see why. They were super sanitary, used all-natural items, and paid a lot of attention to detail.
Saturday night was date night for me and Riley. We hit up La Tienda, our current favorite place in Williamsburg, for some tapas, wine, and charcuterie. We had this amazing truffle potato thingy that was to-die for.
I could literally go there just for that bowl of olives and the bread basket. So good! After our dinner, we relaxed in our pjs at home and Riley made us some White Russians.
They were incredible, but a bit ill-advised considering the earlier wine situation. The upside was that I slept reaaaaally well haha.
Sunday was a lazy day in our house. We thought about going to the beach, but I was in full bookworm mode and totally lost track of time. I went through two books and didn’t really surface until dinner time. After dinner, I did put some of my farmer’s market peaches to use by making a quick and easy peach cobbler.
After dessert it was time for Game of Thrones, then bedtime for me!
How was your weekend?
What’s the best thing you ate this weekend?
