Happy Monday! I’m back in northern VA this morning, where I’ve been since yesterday. We had another busy college fair last night and I’m tying up the last of my visits. This trip is a quick one, though! I’m heading back home tomorrow and then travel season is DONE! I’m just as excited for it to end as I was for it to start. I got to do the fair with these lovely ladies, at least.
And then I snagged a cookie and some chamomile tea in the hotel lounge before finishing up this post and unwinding for the night!
I’m getting ahead of myself, though. Let’s back up and chat about the weekend! I kicked off Friday night with a trip to La Tienda for a ladies night. A bunch of us had some wine and I ordered a mushroom, green bean, and manchego cheese dish that was really good.
Saturday morning I met up with a girlfriend in the historic area to get in a nice walk and check out the farmer’s market.
You’d think all the touristy stuff wouldn’t be exciting anymore, but every time the horses come out to start the day of carriage rides I can’t help but break out my camera! The horses in Williamsburg are very well taken care of and as a result, they’re not out and about except for a few hours a day.
After catching up with my friend and grabbing some kombucha, my motivation for the day quickly evaporated and I ended up lounging/napping with Coco for a while.
Saturday night was date night with Riley! We went to Corner Cafe and started our dinner with fried cheese curds.
It was as awesome as it sounds. I forgot to snap a picture of my actual meal, but it was pretty good. I had a salad and some gnocchi.
Sunday morning was laaazzzy. Riley totally doted on me and it definitely did not suck. He brought me coffee while I caught up on Scandal, cooked me breakfast, and even let me off the hook with cleaning up after. He’s so great.
Once I was all packed up it was back in the rental car!
Traffic was awful, but I’ve been listening to the Up and Vanished podcast and I’m super into it right now, so the time went by pretty quickly. One of my co-workers recommended it. Apparently I’m getting the whole office into listening to crime podcasts on our long car rides haha. I’ve avoided googling the case because I don’t want to read spoilers, but I heard that the podcast helped solve the case in the end, 10 years after it actually happened.
And now we’re all caught up! I’ve got 3 visits to high schools today then I’m speaking on a college panel tonight, so it’ll be a long one. Have a great Monday!
