Hey friends! Happy Monday to you all. Hope you had a great weekend. Things were pretty quiet over here, but I did get in a good mix of fun and relaxation.
Friday was spent cleaning the house and getting ready for the arrival of a “new” china cabinet. My grandmother moves to Florida on the 19th and a lot of her older furniture is getting left behind. I made room in our dining room area for my great-grandma’s china cabinet, which I’m absolutely loving. When it arrived it was pretty dusty and needed a good cleaning, but has a ton of potential.
Coco’s such a good little helper. She goes nuts whenever something new arrives, so I couldn’t keep her away.
A ton of furniture polish, a ruined toothbrush, and half a roll of paper towels later and the cabinet was nice and shiny. I’ve started filling it up and decorating the shelves and I’m loving it so far.
Saturday morning was spent at hot yoga flow and I’m still pretty sore from it! After class, I arrived home and was greeted by this little guy at my car.
He had a collar, but none of my neighbors knew who he belonged to. He was really friendly and seemed well taken care of, so my best guess was that he just got loose. I gave him some water and we all hoped he’d just head back home, which I guess he did since he was gone by the time I finished my shower. Riley arrived home fully expecting to see another dog in our living room, but no, I did not adopt him, tempting as it was.
Saturday included a visit to the farmer’s market where I picked up some tasty goat cheese and checked out all the summer veggies.
After browsing the market, I walked around for a little while to check out the gardens. I love checking in on them throughout the seasons to see what’s new.
I also said hi to the horses, which were out in full force on Saturday giving people rides.
Dinner Saturday night was delicious. I sauteed chicken breasts, diced eggplant, cherry tomatoes from our garden, and onion. I threw in plenty of olive oil, a little white wine, basil, red pepper, and garlic. It turned out surprisingly well considering I didn’t really have a plan. Riley said it needed pasta, but I thought the garlic bread was enough.
After two great days, Sunday was a failure. I woke up in the middle of the night with terrible pain in one of my toes. It had been bothering me for a couple days, but I didn’t think much of it. After a night full of throbbing pain, though, I knew something was wrong.
Instead of the morning run I had planned, I spent Sunday morning at urgent care, where they said I had a nail infection of some sort. I won’t get into the gory details, but now I’m on antibiotics and should be good to go in a few days.
Sunday also included a failed attempt at baked sweet potato chips.
Womp womp. This is the third time I’ve burned sweet potato chips. I’m just frying them in oil next time, because I give up.
The antibiotics made me feel out of sorts, so I eventually threw in the towel and declared it a read/nap in bed kind of day.
And that’s what I’ve been up to. I’m ready to tackle a busy and crazy week this morning, so I’d better run. Catch you later!
What did you do this weekend?
Have you ever adopted a stray? If Bella didn’t despise all other dogs, I probably would have a mini zoo by now. I’m a sucker for stray animals!
