How are you today? It’s Wednesday, which means halfway to the weekend and I can’t wait! I thought for today that I’d turn my normal WIAW post into a peek into my typical day on the road. This is a rundown of what happened yesterday. Thanks to Jenn for hosting!
6:30 AM: Wake up, throw on some gym clothes and head downstairs to the hotel gym. I did about 20 minutes on the elliptical and some upper body exercises like bicep curls and shoulder presses. It was a pretty lackluster workout, but it was better than nothing.
7:00 AM: Hit the free breakfast buffet. Piled on some eggs, a blueberry/granola parfait, an apple, and these potato pancake thingies which I had one bite of and were gross. The rest was good, though.
7:20 AM: Shower, get dressed, and check social media.
8:15 AM: Hit the road and make the 45 minute drive to my high schools for the day.
9:15-11:15AM: Visiting high schools and presenting to groups of seniors. Had a great turnout and most students had already visited our campus.
12:00 PM: Meet up with my co-worker, who’s also visiting schools in the county next to mine, for lunch. We went to The Cheesecake Factory, where I ordered the pear and gorgonzola flatbread from their “skinnylicious” menu, with a side salad.
1:30 PM: Head back to my hotel to do some work. Spend the next couple hours typing up evaluations, answering emails, and other work.
3:00 PM: Fall asleep. My hotel room has had some weird noises keeping me up at night, so I’m taking every bit of sleep I can get!
4:00 PM: Get myself cleaned up and hit the road again to drive south for the evening’s college fair. Traffic in Northern VA sucks, so this takes forever.
5:00 PM: Unpack, set up my table at the fair, and go off in search of the free food that was promised. Eat and chat with other admission reps while waiting for the fair to start. I had an egg salad mini sandwich, a roast beef/cheddar pinwheel thing and a banana. Not the most well-balanced dinner, but it was free so put that in the win column.
I also snagged two cookies to get a sugar rush before things started.
6:00-8:00 PM: Talk with prospective students and their parents. I probably talked to about 150 kids.
8:00 PM: Pack up and call Riley while I drive back to my hotel.
9:00 PM: Crawl into bed, finish up and schedule my blog post, answer more emails.
10:00 PM: Lights out!
I’ve got three high schools to visit, then I’m headed home. I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed tonight!!
