We made it! Even though this was technically a short work week because of the snow, it felt……long. Like, really long. It’s all good, though, because we’re back to another weekend. I have zero set plans for the weekend, but I’m sure it will be a mix of being productive and having some fun.
Since work stress has been pretty high, I’ve made it a priority to take care of myself this week. Today’s Friday Favorites are a pretty good reflection of that, so I hope to keep it going into the weekend. Enjoy!
I love the Yogi tea line I recently bought their Kava Stress Relief tea and I’ve been drinking it every night this week. It is seriously relaxing! I’ve slept really well every night I’ve had it. The taste is pretty strong and it’s probably not for everyone, but the best thing I can compare it to is the flavor of a gingerbread cookie melted into your cup. If strong flavors aren’t really your thing, their honey lavender stress relief tea is also fantastic.
I’m always on the lookout for good candles and I came across this one at Target the other day. They had several different scents in the same line and I couldn’t decide which one I liked best. This Namaste one has made our living room smell like a spa, though, so I see myself keeping it in the rotation for sure.
Panera Rapid Pick-up
Part of my “take care of yourself” theme of the week has been not beating myself up over takeout breakfasts. Some days you’re just running behind! I love that I can quickly order a breakfast sandwich and coffee on the Panera app while I’m sitting at a stop light, then run in 5 minutes later and just grab my bag and run. It is a life saver because skipping breakfast is not an option for me.
Speaking of breakfasts, though, I’d have to say this morning’s breakfast was the best. I had plenty of time after my run at the gym this morning to scramble some eggs, make some whole grain PB toast, and I also broke out the espresso maker.
The espresso machine had been collecting dust for a while, but I’m glad to see it’s back in rotation. Nothing like a homemade cappucino to start the day on the right foot! 20 bucks says I make like 15 of these this weekend.
Early Gym Time
This time of year, EVERYONE is hitting the gym/studio for their new year’s resolutions. I get a little annoyed by crowds at the gym, but luckily for me my regular 5 AM gym time hasn’t changed! There were a whopping 8 people in the building when I walked in this morning and I was able to crank out a few miles on the treadmill without any distractions. I plan on hitting up a hot yoga class after work today, which I think will kick off my weekend very nicely.
Coffee Break French
Remember how I said I wanted to learn some French this year? Well, I’ve discovered the Coffee Break French podcast on Spotify and it’s the perfect thing to keep me entertained on my commute! My drive takes about 35-45 minutes each way depending on traffic, so I figured I may as well make good use of that time. Hopefully my French will be Très Bien in no time.
That’s about all I’ve got for you guys this time! I plan on spending my weekend cleaning the house, doing some meal prep (cause, you know, I do that once every 2 months), and probably taking some bubble baths and reading. Have a great weekend, you guys!
