Happy Monday, guys! I hope you had a restful and fun weekend. Mine was pretty great. I left work early on Friday to take care of errands and cleaning. I was able to squeeze in a session at the gym, too, which felt amazing considering I’d missed three days in a row. Whoops!
Friday evening the singing lesson I teach got cancelled because of the bad weather rolling in. If there’s even a hint of icy precipitation, we shut things down! The most we got was an hour or two of snowing, then back to rain, but it didn’t stop people from driving like idiots. While the first snow flakes came down, I played piano for awhile, then Riley and I listened to Christmas carols, had a fire, and enjoyed some pizza and wine for dinner.
Saturday was COLD and gross. I ventured out for a little Christmas shopping, but otherwise I was hibernating in the house all day. Of course, Bella loves crappy weather, so she was begging me to take her out. It was the worst.
Captain ventured out for a bit, but he didn’t make it far.
Saturday evening, some more snow fell and we made another fire. By “we” I mean Riley, obviously. I sipped champagne, read my book, and turned in by 10. Just a typical wild and crazy Saturday night around here!
Riley’s work was super slow on Sunday, so he took the day off, which is always a nice treat for me. After an awesome HIIT run and kettlebell workout at the gym, I was starving so we headed out for brunch.
The rest of Sunday was super chill. Riley watched football and I spent most of my time in my reading room upstairs. I read some more, wrapped a bunch of presents, and started typing up this post.
I’m really on top of things with the Christmas shopping this year! I normally end up out with the crazies two days before Christmas, but I’ve got most everything locked in. Now I just need to keep the presents hidden from the cats. Sadly, having cats means you can’t actually put wrapped presents under the tree because they will get destroyed if you do. Paper and boxes are basically crack to cats.
And now it’s back to the start of a busy week! I have so much going on this week and I’m excited about all of it. In addition to sending out our first wave of acceptance letters this week, I’ve got 4 different parties to go to, including one of my all-time faves- the annual office chili cook-off. I’m entering a vegetarian chili this year and, since I’ve never made vegetarian chili, if you know any good recipes, let me know.
Have a great Monday!
What did you do this weekend?
Have you ever entered a chili cook-off? Know any good veggie chili recipes?
Did you get any snow where you live?
