Happy Monday friends! As I type this, I’m listening to the howling wind and heavy rain outside my cracked window. It’s been like this all day and it’s been the perfect excuse to hibernate, curl up under a blanket, and unplug for a little while. Coco has been the biggest fan of all, since she benefits from all that snuggle time!
I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was packed with great stuff on Saturday, but I took yesterday to step away from the technology and just veg out. I read magazines, a book, took a bath, and did a face mask. It was pretty amazing. The best part was getting to enjoy my newly completed reading room/Office. I should probably back up, though!
Saturday morning started nice and early. I headed out and got my hair cut, then shopped for supplies to turn our empty third bedroom into something usable and pretty. Since we moved in June, we’ve basically had an empty china cabinet and ironing board just sitting in there. Well, I’m pretty pumped about how it all turned out in the end! The lighting in the room made it impossible to take good pictures, but I did my best so you guys could see it all.
The China cabinet was my great-grandmothers and I just turned it into a bookcase. The desk, curtains, and pictures were leftover from our last house and the chair was from Wayfair. I bought the rug, table, lamp, blanket, pillows, and extra accessories from Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and World Market.
After my room was finished, I met one of my girlfriends, Lyndi, at a new local brewery in town.
The brewery is in Jamestown right by the water and it was really busy since it was opening weekend. I’m not a big beer drinker, but if you tell me there’s a water view I’ll usually show up. We chatted for a couple hours and sipped on their beer while taking in the scenery. It was such a great way to break up the afternoon!
Later Saturday evening, Riley and I headed out for date night. We hit up Hound’s Tale for some small plates. We split their pimiento cheese monkey bread and I had some sweet potato/black bean tacos that were awesome. Riley got a tortellini dish and a fancy hot dog dish and loved them both.
It was an early night for me on Saturday! I’m so grateful that I had two straight days off to relax and get caught up on life stuff. I have a semi-busy week at work, but I’m mostly just glad to be well-rested.
I feel a bit guilty because some of you were so impressed by how organized I was last week, pre-planning my meals, workouts, and even my outfits. Well, guess how much of that I did this time around? That would be a big fat ZERO. Yeah, reading and taking baths took precedence over work-week planning I guess. I told you it wouldn’t last. I’m sure I’ll be scrambling around and living off Panera for a couple days while I get into the swing of things. Oh well, have a great Monday!
