Happy Monday! I missed you guys on Friday. To be honest, the long work weeks are catching up to me and I just didn’t really get the chance to type anything up. It’s all good, though, because instead I got my house deep cleaned so that I could enjoy my day off on Saturday instead!
I was pumped to wake up on Saturday because the cold front finally came through and it felt like fall outside! It was sunny and cold and I was itching to get outside and run. Since I recently discovered the Lake Matoaka trails right by my neighborhood, I trekked over there and tackled a couple miles to a point overlooking the lake.
It was so pretty! I took a little break to enjoy the gorgeous water views before backtracking and finishing my run. I covered 4 miles by the time I was done and it was the perfect way to start my day.
After a shower and some breakfast, I did a little shopping for the house and got sucked in by all the pumpkin displays and decorations. Damn you, Trader Joe’s!
I planted some more mums as well, since the deer literally ate all of mine. I added deer repellent this time.
I took a couple hours in the afternoon to get my nails done. It was so relaxing! They brought me a drink and a heated neck wrap during my pedicure and I think I could’ve napped in that chair. I also loved the fall color I got!
The rest of my afternoon was spent outside reading. It was chilly and breezy on the front porch, so I cracked open a hard cider and relaxed with my book and the pets.
Once Riley was home from work, we put on some college football and made burgers for dinner.
We also lit a bonfire in our fire pit and listened to some music outside for a bit before calling it a night. It was basically the perfect Saturday.
I’m glad I had such a great Saturday because Sunday morning it was back to the grind! I had enough time to shower and make breakfast before I had to hit the road and drive up to Washington D.C. for a college fair. It was a busy fair and the time went by really quickly. Afterwards, I headed over to Arlington to visit my best friend, Megan. We hung out at her new house until her husband got home, then the 3 of us headed out to dinner.
I had an awesome spinach ravioli dish with portabellos on top. Having missed lunch, I was starving, so I definitely cleaned my plate!
It was so great to spend a few hours catching up with Megan! I feel like I don’t see her nearly enough and she’ll be having a baby in less than 3 months so I’m really wishing we lived closer.
Now I’m settled into my hotel in NOVA and am visiting several schools today. The weather here is still gorgeous, so even though I’m starting to forget what a 2-day weekend feels like (much less the 3-day-ers from the summer!), I can’t really complain too much. Hopefully I’ll find some place good around here to spend some time outside. If anyone is from the Ashburn/Leesburg area and has suggestions, let me know.
Have a great Monday!
