Happy Friday, everyone! This week has been loooong. Things are about the shake up, though, because I hit the road on Monday and will start my recruiting for the fall. I’m pretty excited to get started. Just cross your fingers for me and hope I get a good rental car!
I don’t have much on the weekend agenda. I’m working tomorrow for a few hours, then I really just want to enjoy being in the same spot for a little while before travel starts. Today, though, is all about the good things from the week, so here’s what I’ve been loving lately! Spoiler alert- a lot of it is food related.
Hearth & Hand with Magnolia
Anyone else see the big announcement about Chip and Joanna Gaines’ new line coming to Target? I’m so pumped! I love watching Fixer Upper and I have a feeling I’ll want everything in the collection. Word is, nothing is over $30!
I texted Riley and told him I needed to get a second job before November. He did not text me back.
Outlander Season 3
I just ordered Starz so I could watch the 3rd season of Outlander. I read all 8 books a couple years ago and the show has been so good. The third book is one of my favorites, so I’m really looking forward to this season. It’s off to a great start so far!
Riley asked if I wanted to go out on Wednesday and we decided to do something different from what we normally do. I suggested we visit one of the Colonial Williamsburg taverns. The first year we dated, Riley took me to one of the taverns, but we haven’t been since then. We decided to hit up Chowning’s Tavern, which I couldn’t remember going to before. They redid the whole thing a couple years anyway, so it was pretty new to us.
The last time I went to a tavern in Williamsburg, I remembered people coming around playing fiddles and stuff for entertainment. We apparently missed that by 5 minutes. I also remembered actors making big scenes and yelling about the Revolution. That didn’t happen while we were there. Basically, I was expecting a show and it was just a normal restaurant, but with candlelight and old timey sounding names for basic things like veggie wraps.
I did end up having their veggie sandwich? wrap? I’m not really sure, but it was pretty good. It was nice to walk the quiet streets of Williamsburg at night with Riley, though, and do something a little different from the norm!
While I’m talking about food, I need to mention First Watch, which is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I went with a couple of the ladies from work Wednesday morning and had green juice, an egg white omelet, fruit, and toast.
Pretty much any restaurant that puts fresh juice on the menu is going to be my favorite place in the world. If only they’d get a few bottles of sriracha (I had to douse my omelet with hot sauce instead) I’d love it even more!
Secrets In Death
I’ve always been a fan of J.D. Robb books and her latest one came out last week. I’ve been reading some of it every night before bed and it’s really good so far.
I’m more than halfway through and still haven’t figured out who the killer is. That’s not saying much, though. I should probably mention that I’m TERRIBLE at guessing who the killer is. If there’s a room full of people watching a murder mystery and everyone else has solved said mystery, I’m the one at the end going, “WHAT? No way! Who saw that coming?!” Um, everyone except me. That’s who.
I had a few more little things to add, but I think I’ll wrap it up there. The weekend is here and my attention span is quickly shrinking! Have a great weekend, everybody!
