This weekend was pretty awesome! I almost feel bad saying that because, as I’m writing this, I’m watching Hurricane Irma just destroy Florida and it’s so scary and sad. My cousin is in Orlando and My grandma is west of Orlando so I’m hopeful we’ll get news today that they’re doing alright.
Aside from the stress of the storm, things were gorgeous up here in Virginia. The weather was crisp, cool, and sunny- just perfect for the start of fall! After work on Friday I had a quiet evening at home with Riley. We made homemade naan grilled pizzas. I made mine with sauteed portabellas, onion, and goat cheese.
After dinner, I curled up on my swing outside while the sun went down, had some wine, and read my book before turning in early.
I woke up early on Saturday morning with a ton of energy, so I headed over to the historic part of town for a run. It was chilly outside and just the best running weather! After my run I made a sweep through the farmer’s market for tomatoes and flowers.
While Riley was still asleep, I squeezed in a quick trip to Target, complete with Starbucks. They started making a pumpkin spice chai latte at Starbucks and I think I’m hooked!
After a little break to have breakfast with Riley, I went back out to try out a new juicery in town, JuiceFix Juicery. It’s a locally owned company and they have other locations throughout the area, but Saturday was opening day for the Williamsburg location and I was pumped! They have an awesome menu, reasonable prices, and the owners were super nice.
I joined in on the ginger shots while I waited in line before ordering their beet juice.
I had crazy energy after finishing that juice. It was ridiculous. I should’ve learned the first time I had beet juice that you should really drink it BEFORE your workout, otherwise you’ll be bouncing off the walls. Since I was bouncing off the walls, I bounced on over to Home Goods and bought a whole bunch of fall decorations. My house is officially fall-ready!
Once my ginger/beet juice high wore off, all I wanted to do was read my book in peace and quiet, but literally EVERYONE in my neighborhood was tending to their yards and I couldn’t hear myself think, so I drove over to the river for a bit and laid out on a blanket while I read.
Saturday night, Riley and I went over to our friend’s house for a couple hours. We had some food, drinks, and sat outside by the fire while we chatted.
Sunday morning kicked off with a barre class, then a hike with some friends at York river state park in the afternoon. I went with the same friends we saw on Saturday, but Riley opted to stay behind and watch the football games.
After my hike, Riley and I vegged out with the windows open, football on tv, and junk food. It was the best kind of weekend- plenty of activity, fun, and relaxation. I think the weather was just so darn pretty it was hard to sit still, but I’m not at all sorry about it!
Now it’s back to the grind. Have a great Monday!
