Happy Tuesday! I hope all my American friends enjoyed the long weekend. To all my mommy/daddy friends who are sending their kids back to school today, I wish you (and all the teachers!) best of luck. This weekend was really the last long weekend I’ll have until Thanksgiving, so I tried to soak it all in. I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures, but that’s usually a sign that you’re just living in the moment, right?
Saturday was a whirlwind of productivity. I deep cleaned the whole house while Riley was at work. I usually do that about once a month and I always feel so good afterwards.
I also hit the gym for a good run, then took a trip to Trader Joe’s to visit my favorite wine guys. They give me all the good suggestions and I got a couple new-to-me wines to try!
Saturday evening Riley and I went out with some friends. Our friend, Wally, was visiting from Florida and a big group of us went out for dinner at our favorite hibachi grill. The service is notoriously slow, but we’ve been going as a big group there forever, so it’s kind of tradition now.
Everyone else wanted to keep the party going afterwards, but Riley and I were super tired, so we called it a night. I felt like a party pooper at the time, but waking up refreshed and hangover-free was definitely worth it!
Sunday was a pretty chill day for me. Riley was busy golfing and hanging out with the guys, so I watched some documentaries on Netflix and vegged out with the pets.
I joked with Riley that, since he wasn’t around to cook me dinner, I’d probably just have cheese for dinner. Then it actually happened and I wasn’t at all sorry.
Riley and I both had Labor Day off, so we started the day off with homemade vanilla lattes.
We had a mini day date at Blue Talon Bistro for lunch. I had one of my favorites, their goat cheese and tomato tart, along with some French onion soup.
After lunch, we ran some errands and went to Home Depot. Not super exciting, but it needed to be done! We changed out our shower head, planted some mums, and then relaxed for the rest of the day. It was pretty warm, but still mild enough to sit outside on the swing.
The rest of the evening was spent grilling burgers and watching some TV.
And now…..back to reality. I can’t be too sad, though, because this summer was amazing. We went to Paris. We bought a house. We bought a car. We went to the beach dozens of times. I attempted to grow a garden. I used vacation time to take 3-day weekends all summer long. I feel so incredibly lucky and this summer was definitely one for the books.
Vacation can’t last forever, though, so I’m ready to buckle down and get to work this fall. I’ve got all of my fall work travel lined up and ready to go. I’m also planning to get back to the gym early in the day. I took some time off from my 5 AM workouts and it was pretty great. Working out at weird hours of the day, however, isn’t super sustainable for me, so I need to get back to a routine. I’m sure the 5 AM regulars will think I just stopped working out all together (I did not!), so I’m prepared to get mocked when I go back. They’re good people, I swear.
Alright, I’ve talked enough. Have a great Tuesday!
