Happy Friday everybody! Before we get started, thank you all so much for your comments on Wednesday’s post. I loved hearing from readers who had never reached out before. I’ve also learned that many of us are dirty dirty cheaters when it comes to our Fitbits. Ha! Glad I’m not alone at least.
I’m super excited about the weekend. I have a few plans lined up, but also plenty of down time to just relax. You know what I’m not excited about? That I apparently missed National Book Lovers Day. Yep, it was Wednesday and I found out about it yesterday. Missing Book Lovers Day also reminded me that only ONE person in my office has contributed a book to my office-wide book exchange.
Yes, all the other ones are mine. I will just have to re-read my own. Thank you for bringing a book, Kim, you are my hero.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to talking about my favorite things from this week! As always, feel free to share yours in the comments section!
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
I’m obsessed with Oribe’s texturizing spray. It came in my July Birchbox shipment and I immediately fell in love with it. It gives my hair the perfect beachy texture that actually holds up all day, but doesn’t get crunchy or weird.
It also helps disguise when I’ve gone a few days between washes. Which I frequently do.
Considering my current routine is to drive to work with wet hair, scrunch it in front of my office space heater for a couple minutes, then spray this stuff on it, I’d say it’s worth the money to make me look presentable. Luckily for me, though, my August Birchbox came with another sample of it! It was probably a mistake, but I’m glad because a full sized bottle is not cheap.
Sunsets and porch sitting
We had the most gorgeous sunset the other night and I took my wine glass and the pets outside to just sit and enjoy the quiet end to the day.
The cats love to run around and Bella loves to just sit near my feet and enjoy the fresh air. It’s a nice change of pace from sitting in front of the TV at night. If anyone wants to deliver a couple white rocking chairs to my front porch that would be great.
Sitting out on the porch also gave me the chance to admire Harold’s work of the day. This is Harold:
Riley named him. Harold is a barn spider (the kind from Charlotte’s Web) and every single night around 8:30, he swings down from the top of the porch and gets to work making his web. Every single night he makes this complicated, intricate web in no time at all and every morning it’s gone. I’ve tried for weeks to get a good picture of him, but he’s so fast making his web that I can never capture him just right. I don’t know why Riley and I like him so much, but we do. One day Harold’s just not going to show up and Riley will be devastated. In the meantime, he has been researching different spiders and telling me random facts about them.
Always Panera! I’ve been hitting the snooze button like crazy this week and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even have time to make breakfast before leaving for work. Thankfully, rapid pick-up is there to save the day and get me my Mediterranean egg white sandwich. Sometimes I try to remember my life before Panera and it’s too hard to imagine.
Women Who Didn’t Love Wonder Woman Support Group
I saw this yesterday and died laughing. I still haven’t seen the movie, but I feel like when I do I’ll HAVE to like it, otherwise I’ll be betraying the feminist movement or something. There was just so much hype around this movie, even when Marvel cranks out a superhero movie every 5 seconds. I’m glad the response has been really positive, though, and I can’t wait to see the movie for myself.
That about wraps things up for today! My day includes a barre class, cleaning the house, then hopefully having my mom and aunt over later this afternoon. Have a great weekend!
