Good morning, friends! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I’ve spent the past couple days mostly relaxing and enjoying the time off. I spent the first part of my “staycation” doing lots of housework and projects, so the second part was all fun!
Monday morning was spent at the beach. It’s been suuuper muggy and hot around here, so I didn’t make it past noon, but I still got in a couple decent hours.
I spent the rest of Monday binge-watching season 4 of The 100. So good! I watched the whole season in 2 days. No shame!
Tuesday morning started off at the gym. I got in a couple miles on the treadmill, then took a barre class. My gym’s barre classes are nothing like the ones I usually take at my yoga studio, but it was a nice change of pace. The teacher complimented my legs, so it was basically a great morning.
After my workout, I spent some time in the backyard, checking on our little garden. My tomatoes are finally turning red!
Once Riley got home from work, we started our 4th of July festivities by sipping rosé and playing rummy.
Riley also whipped us up a feast of burgers and cheesy potatoes.
Later on, we heard fireworks going off everywhere and I got some serious FOMO. I absolutely love fireworks, but we decided to stay in to avoid crowds. We also didn’t want to get on the road after a couple glasses of wine. The downside to living this close to the historic area of Williamsburg, though, means I could hear all the fireworks, but I couldn’t see them.
Riley did his best to give me the full 4th of July experience….
Yeah, not quite the same, but I give him props for trying. We ended up calling it a night and turning in by 10:30.
I’m up super early for a workout this morning, then it’s back to work for me. Have a great Wednesday!
How did you celebrate the 4th of July?
Do you like fireworks?
