Are we there yet? Oh, thank goodness! I love you, Friday. I love you so much…..
I need a weekend….badly. Here’s the thing. I’m not one to generally complain or get upset about things, but I’ve been hovering at about a 9 on the emotional scale this whole last week and I normally don’t go above a 5 or 6. I know this is all par for the course right after buying a house and moving, but I just really……I just really need a hug. Or a drink. Or a massage. Yeah, ok, I need all three.
My weekend plans will likely consist of more unpacking and tackling the mess we left behind in the old townhouse. I’m not normally good at leaving tasks unfinished, but I think I need to squeeze in some time to relax and just give the to-do list a break. If I continue like this I’ll become a nightmare to live with, so I’m in the process of planning some more fun activities to get my head back on straight.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom around here, though, so I hope it doesn’t sound like that! We’ve just had a couple days where it feels like nothing is working and I’m just drained. Despite some setbacks, the house is coming along nicely and the work week has gone by pretty quickly. I’ve got a list of my favorite things from the past week, so feel free to share yours in the comments below!
New Bar Cart
Remember the bar cart I shared last week that was on my wish list? Well, it came back in stock and arrived this week! I’ve got a few more things to do to make it look the way I want it to, but that will be a fun project for the weekend.
Travinia Italian Kitchen
Whenever I’m feeling stressed, lunches out with my work bestie Yoma always make it better. We treated ourselves to a good lunch at Travinia Italian Kitchen earlier this week and it was so good.
We split a delicious spinach salad and I had a dish with shrimp, mushrooms, spinach, and angel hair pasta in a cream sauce. I’m sure it was terrible for me, but it was amazing.
So You Think You Can Dance
My favorite summer TV show is back! I love having this to look forward to on my DVR in the summers and can’t wait to see what the talent looks like this year. They had a kid version last year, which was fun, but I’m glad to see they’re back to the regular format. They also have Vanessa Hudgins as their new judge, so I’m excited to see how she does.
You all have no idea how significant this picture was for me. Over 9 years ago, Riley and I moved in together. He brought Bella and I brought Coco. I was convinced they would become best friends and snuggle together every night. Well, they became mostly friends, but the snuggling I’d pictured never really happened. I think moving to this new house was a turning point for my old girls! Almost every night since we moved they’ve cuddled up on their new bed together and it’s made me insanely happy. I really hope this trend sticks around because I’ve been waiting a long time for this!
Running in Colonial Williamsburg
On Wednesday morning I found myself wide awake at 5:30 am and remembered just how close we are now to the historic area of town. I laced up my sneakers and headed over for a super quick run before getting ready for my day. It was so quiet and peaceful and the only other people out were other runners/walkers.
I love that I’m close enough to start my day in my favorite area of town!
You know how the practice of being grateful can make such an impact? I’m a firm believer that it’s important to relish the little things in life and take time to be thankful. I think maybe I’ve forgotten to do that this week because even just typing up this post has helped turn my mood around. There are things that haven’t worked out the way I planned and stuff has put me over the edge that I didn’t expect (lookin’ at you, dead tomato plant that made me cry), but I think this weekend will be a good one. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you guys on Monday!
