Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was super busy because Friday was our official moving day!
Since Riley had to work, my mom came down to help out and offer moral support. She arrived right after the movers had accidentally put a hole in the wall of our rental, so bless her for putting up with my mood! I was so anxious I physically couldn’t watch them handle my piano, so I busied myself with minor tasks while my mom supervised the more stressful moments.
The rest of the move went relatively smoothly, then it was on to the fun task of setting up a home. I’m a huge believer that making it feel like home right away is crucial and, ultimately, this paid off for us. The pets have pretty much settled in with very little drama or stress, which is half the battle. Moving two cats and a dog is no joke! Luckily, they did ok. Captain has done a lot of hiding in the bathroom, but otherwise they seem pretty happy with their new home. To celebrate our first night in the house, Riley brought me some beautiful peonies and lillies and we opened up the bottle of champagne our real estate agent gave us and I took a much-deserved bubble bath.
The house itself is also shaping up nicely. I’ve spent just about all our money to get there. I’m kidding, sort of, but I’m pretty sure I know the Target workers by name now. We still have a few items on their way to us, but hopefully by this time next week it’ll all be done. As much fun as this has been, I can’t wait for a weekend day where I don’t have 12 projects to do! I think Lowes will soon ban me considering all the opened packages I’ve returned recently. Here’s a sneak peek at how things were shaping up as of yesterday.
Coco has seriously been an angel. The second I brought her inside the house she was totally comfortable! It was nice to have at least one pet who didn’t cry and whine the entire first night….
Saturday and Sunday were spent shopping, putting things together, hanging pictures, and doing laundry. We took a break at the end of the day on Sunday, though, to make dinner and relax. Thanks to Jennie O we had some pre-seasoned turkey burgers. Riley cooked them on our new grill and we topped them with guacamole, cheese, crispy jalapeños, and tomatoes.
They turned out so good and now I’m pumped to have leftovers for lunch this week. Sadly, I’m also looking forward to going to work this week because it means I won’t have time to buy more crap. Ugh. I know it’s crap we need, but I’m usually pretty stingy with my money, so I know that credit card bill is going to hurt. It’s fine, it’s all worth it, right? Right. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Alright, I’m off to get this week started, but I hope you all have an awesome Monday!
When’s the last time you moved?
