Greetings from Paris! As you’re reading this, Riley and I are exploring the City of Light and loving every minute of it. I’m sure I’ll come home 10 pounds heavier due to all the amazing food I’m eating, but I think it’s worth it.
This Sunday, Riley and I will celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary. I’m thankful every day that I get to go through life with a man who loves and respects me as much as he does.
It’s hard to believe that I met Riley 11 years ago this summer. Looking back on our first year together, I remember being in such a completely different place in life! I was still in college and had so much going on. I had no idea that early on that we would end up together.
Having blogged for several years, I feel like most of what I want to say about Riley I’ve already said. From telling you all about how we met to sharing pictures from our wedding, I’ve shared a lot. It’s hard to articulate those little memories, though. The ones that take you right back into that moment and make you realize how great it was.
When I think back to our wedding in Mexico 6 years ago, I still remember so much of it vividly. I remember spending the day at the spa with my mom and girlfriends, drinking mimosas and getting our hair done.
I remember my favorite girls in the world helping me get dressed in my wedding gown. I remember Megan lovingly reminding me that, “Kel, you know they make dresses with zippers now….” as they laced up the million little layers of ribbon in the back.
I remember walking down the aisle on the sand, the sun going down, and the waves crashing on the shore. Riley’s face was priceless and I heard him mutter “oh my God…” under his breath as I walked toward him.
I remember thinking I’d never felt more beautiful.
After the ceremony, we drank champagne on the beach, took pictures, danced, and enjoyed each others company while the last trace of sunlight disappeared.
At one point I turned around to see my parents off to the side, dancing with each other in the sand, and thinking, “I hope we’re just like that…”
After a night of dinner, drinks, karaoke, and dancing, Riley and I turned in for the night. The next morning, we threw on our fancy clothes again and took a swim in the ocean.
We got on the elevator afterwards and this old couple was riding up with us. The lady said to us, “goodness, did you two fall in?!” and we just laughed.
6 years later, I like to think we’re having just as much fun now as we did then. Riley is my favorite and I can’t wait to see how many more adventures we go on together.
Happy Anniversary, Babe. Je t’aime pour toujours!
