I did it again, you guys! I don’t know what’s been happening, but getting a Wednesday post written has just not been in the cards for me. Sorry bout that.
Actually, I do know what happened. I got sick on Tuesday. Within a four hour time span I went from totally fine to super sore throat and a temperature. It was crazy! I’m on the mend, though, so I should be hopefully totally fine to enjoy my weekend. I don’t have any big plans on the books right now, but with vacation coming up next week I figure I’ll be busy doing last minute shopping and getting ready.
Since it’s Friday (and I dipped out on you on Wednesday), let’s catch up on all the great things happening this week. Enjoy!
I know this is a weird one to put first on a Friday Favorites list, but YOU GUYS. This stuff is magic.
I went home from work early on Tuesday will a killer sore throat, chills, and a low-grade fever. It came on so quickly! I was determined to tackle it head-on, so I immediately started taking Zicam. This stuff is apparently clinically proven to shorten your cold and I can tell you without a doubt that it works. Everyone in my office swears by it, especially since we all tend to get sick at the same time. As long as I take it the second I feel symptoms and keep at it, my cold will go from a week to about 3-4 days max. I already feel 10x better!
Wednesday night, Riley and I got to see Jason Mraz live at the school where I work! I snagged tickets a few weeks ago, which was lucky for me because the whole thing was sold out within 48 hours.
The show was just Jason and a guitar and it was a lot of fun! I was so impressed with his voice and it left me wondering why I don’t take advantage of the performing arts center here more often.
Riley’s grilled cheese
Whenever I’m sick, Riley likes to pamper me by making me grilled cheese. It’s the greatest food ever when you’re sick! He makes a mean GC sandwich and he even brought it to me in bed Tuesday night. It don’t know how he gets the bread so perfect, but the man’s an artist. So good!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost
So I suffer from super dry skin. The past couple months have been the WORST and my skin has been flaky, dry, and generally not the best. I visited my dermatologist for a yearly screening (necessary for us Irish people) and she gave me a sample of Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost gel cream.
Within 3 days my flakes were all gone! Even better, my skin has looked so good I haven’t worn any makeup outside of mascara and lip gloss in over a week. Naturally, I went out to Target and bought every damn thing in the line (including the lip gloss….), so I hope the rest of the products are as good as the gel cream. All I know is that a day where my makeup routine takes 45 seconds is a good day in my book. Here’s hoping the trend continues. I normally don’t comment on a product this early, but all signs are pointing in a positive direction, so I’ll cross my fingers!
This week hasn’t been the easiest and yesterday was especially rough.
Luckily, I had already made plans with my friend Tara, which helped get me out of my funk. We met up for some wine and charcuterie, aka my favorite thing ever, at Corner Cafe.
It was nice to spend time with a friend when I was feeling especially stressed and bummed. I think wine, bread, cheese, and a good friend can make everything better, don’t you?
Last Friday of work
I always have a lot of vacation time to use at this point in the year, so I typically take all the Fridays off between May and when classes start back up in August. Today marks my last working Friday of the summer!!
I’m so. freakin. excited.
The next month promises to be super crazy. Between Paris and packing to move into our new house, I’m sure I’ll need those extra days off!
On that note, it’s time to get this party started. The weather is warming up enough that I should be able to get some beach time in. Have a great weekend, friends!
