It’s restaurant week!! Riley and I are huge fans of the many delicious and locally-owned restaurants here in Williamsburg. When we saw that it was finally restaurant week, we decided to check out a couple options. Luckily for me, that means I get more than one date night with Riley, which is awesome. We decided to check out our first option on Monday after I got home from work. Who says Mondays can’t be fun? I had a pretty busy, but stellar day on Monday and I’ll sharing my meals with you for What I Ate Wednesday. Enjoy!
One of my favorite breakfast combos right here. I had eggs with cheese and salsa, PB toast on whole grain bread, and a clementine.
Once I got to work I spent the morning taking care of business with some hot tea.
A very unattractive looking Amy’s meal was eaten at my desk for lunch. It didn’t look pretty, but it was tasty. Unfortunately, it was not super filling, so I had my mid-afternoon snack not long after lunch.
Best part of the day! While I cooked up some food for lunches the rest of the week, I enjoyed a glass of wine and Riley made us a dinner reservation at Corner Cafe.
Once we arrived at the restaurant, we ordered a bottle of wine and our appetizers. I went with a Caesar salad. which was delicious. Also, for the first time ever, I actually ignored the bread basket. I thought that deserved some recognition, given my penchant for filling up on all the free stuff before the meal arrives.
The salad was great minus the gross little anchovy “garnish” on the side there. Riley urged me to eat it. I respectfully declined.
My entree was an “Italian style shrimp and grits” with polenta, shrimp, capers, sun-dried tomatoes and more. It was incredible.
It was also massive. The picture doesn’t really show, but it was probably more like 3 meals in one! Riley and I both ended up getting to-go boxes for 2/3 of our meal. Plus, we wanted to save room for the best part.
Dessert was easily the highlight! Corner Cafe has their own pastry chef who makes some pretty amazing concoctions. We ended up sharing the two desserts- a chocolate torte and a peach bread pudding.
I’m drooling just think about that bread pudding. We rolled ourselves home and I was in bed super early, full and happy!
Tonight, we’re meeting up with friends at Le Yaca, another favorite of ours. I will be broke and 10 lbs heavier by Friday, but I think it will probably be worth it.
Have a great Wednesday!
