Hello from Northern VA! I’m actually headed back home later today, but it’s been a great week so far. I’ve met a ton of great students and had a lot of fun, but I am looking forward to being back home with Riley, the pets, and my amazing memory foam mattress. Ahhh, sweet glorious bed!
I love reading when people do day-in-the-life style posts, so I thought for What I Ate Wednesday I’d give you a peek into my day on Monday. Enjoy!
7:15 AM- Wake up, throw on workout clothes, and hit the hotel gym for a run and a mini full body workout with dumbbells. I don’t follow a set workout, but just a few sets of basic moves like lunges, squats, pushups, etc.
After my workout, I hit up the hotel free breakfast for some eggs, fruit, and toast with a cup of coffee.
9:00 AM- shower, get dressed, read some blogs, and check email. Commiserate with co-workers who are also out on the road this week.
Stupid hotel scale doesn’t know what it’s talking about.
10:15 AM- first high school visit of the day. Meet with some awesome high school seniors and answer their questions about applying to my school. I’m there for almost an hour.
11:30 AM- second high school visit. Also awesome and also almost an hour long visit.
1:00 PM- lunch time at Panera. It FINALLY feels like fall, so I get their autumn squash soup and the ancient grain arugula salad.
2:00 PM- make my way to a Starbucks nearby to order an Americano and do some work on my laptop.
3:00 PM- a girl from one of my high schools meets me for an admission interview at Starbucks. We chat for 30 minutes about college, her goals, and qualifications for our school.
4:00 PM- back at the hotel for more work.
6:00 PM- dinner time! I hit up a Spinfire Pizza near my hotel for a margherita pizza that’s pretty tasty. I can’t eat the whole thing, but I make sure to pick off the cheese once I start to get full.
9:00 PM- break out the vino just in time for the presidential debate to start. It was……entertaining?
10:30 PM- decide to read for a few minutes before bed, but then get caught up and end up having to finish the whole book.
12:00 AM- finally finish my book and then it’s lights out!
What’s the best thing you ate yesterday?
Did you watch the debate on Monday?
Do you own a scale? I used to have one, but I threw it out a couple years ago. My jeans do a much better job of telling me when it’s time to tighten the reins!
