Megan’s married! You guys, this weekend was amazing. Every minute of the weekend was just a total blast and getting to see one of my very best friends tie the knot was definitely a highlight of 2016.
The festivities really lasted a full two days, so here’s what went down on Friday. My apologies in advance for the many gaps in picture taking. I was very much in the moment, so sadly many of those moments didn’t get captured!
Our day started out with a full Chef Riley and souz-chef Kelly style breakfast, much to the delight of our housemates. We stayed in a big house with most of the wedding party and they were pumped to see the home fries, eggs, bacon, biscuits, and coffee.
After breakfast, Hannah (one of the bridesmaids) and I headed over to the other house to help do crafty things. We also enjoyed a little trip out on the boat. Lake Guntersville is gorgeous, you guys!
After helping out, we spent a few hours out by the pool, sipping on rum punch and soaking up some sun before getting ready for a quick rehearsal, then the big welcome BBQ.
We had local beer, amazing BBQ, and sides from Ol’ South BBQ and catering. The baked potato casserole was especially delicious and I want to recreate it at home ASAP!
We turned in pretty early after a day of sun and drinks!
I was awake by 7:00 on the big day, super excited to get started. I was also starving, so Riley and I hit up Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I stuck to one of their healthy menu items and had egg beaters, turkey bacon, and yogurt.
Then, super antsy, I dragged some of my housemates into working out with me so I could get the energy out. I learned the hard way that getting into a “lunge-off” with someone, then jogging up and down a giant hill in-between squat sets would make for some sore legs the next day! For the record, I won the lunge-off.
Before I knew it, it was time to get ready. We spent a couple hours getting our hair done at a local salon. The woman who did Megan’s hair is a genius because it looked amazing!
Then it was time for makeup and getting ready for pictures.
With the help of a champagne delivery from the bride’s little brother!
Then Megan got in her dress for pictures and I definitely teared up. She looked so beautiful!
We sang “Going to the
chapel backyard” for the bride, then it was ceremony time!
Once everything got started, the rest of the night was a whirlwind. The details of the wedding were like something straight out of Pinterest. The views of the lake at sunset, the flowers, centerpieces, place settings, and other details were just incredible.
Despite a very untimely storm, we powered through and danced the night away in-between rain showers.
Before we knew it, the night was over!
Riley and I trekked through the suuuper long drive back home and I was completely exhausted by the time we got home. It was so worth it, though, to have such an incredible weekend with some of my favorite people. Congrats Megan and Will!
