Ahhhh, I feel good. Like I could take on the world good. Which is helpful because this week is my first 5-day work week since the beginning of June. I know, poor me.
I missed you guys on Friday! I just didn’t get it together to post anything and time got away from me. That’s what long summer weekends are for, though, right? You haven’t missed a ton in my life since then, but I did do some noteworthy things.
My last work day was spent with new freshmen, introducing them to the world of community service in the nearby area.
Longtime readers will remember that I’ve done this for several years, leading a group of new students as they explore service partners in the area. Until this year, I’d been at the SPCA. You may recall that this led me to the adoption of this little guy-
Ahh, my tiny Captain! He’s over 20 pounds now, but I still call him my little guy. Well, the universe decided I didn’t need any more pets, so my group got assigned to a local sexual assault survivor center, where the girls painted an office and learned all about the organization.
After that, it was time for the weekend!
Riley and I spent Friday having a date day. We went out to lunch at the Corner Cafe, one of my new favorite places in town. I saw several savory crepes on the menu and was in heaven. I ordered a chicken crepe, filled with capers and a lemon cream sauce with veggies on the side.
It was amazing. After our lunch, we walked over to the movie theater to see Suicide Squad.
The movie was pretty entertaining. There were some major dialogue and plot issues, but I’m not mad I saw it. I loved the soundtrack, which made for some awesome workout music later on in the weekend!
Saturday morning was spent at the Williamsburg Salt Spa.
I was super intrigued about this place after reading about the many benefits of salt therapy (reduction of respiratory issues, stress, inflammation, etc). I spent a glorious 60 minutes in their massage room getting a hot salt rock massage.
It was pure heaven. Afterwards, I did a 45 minute session in their salt cave. It wouldn’t been awesome if the sound of the waterfalls and zen music wasn’t drowned out by the old guy snoring the whole time. I’d go back for the massage, but probably not for the salt cave.
Not long after my session, I laid down and promptly passed out for over 2 hours! Best nap ever. I made up for it with a 4.75 mile run at the gym later, though.
Sunday was spent mostly doing house stuff. I took a barre class, grocery shopped, walked the dog, the usual. It just felt so good to relax and enjoy not having any obligations!
Weekly Workout Plan
Now it’s off to start the work week. It promises to be a super busy one, so I’ve outlined how I plan to spend my time working out. Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Monday- run at the gym, kettlebell workout
- Tuesday- barre class
- Wednesday- run at the gym, maybe some ab work?
- Thursday- hot barre class
- Friday- rest
- Saturday- hot flow class
- Sunday- barre class
Have a great Monday!
