Happy Wednesday! Or, in the healthy blogging world, happy What I Ate Wednesday. Today I’m driving back home from North Carolina and I’ve loved my excursion down south these past couple days.
I thought in addition to my WIAW goodies I’d include a little more about what a travel day looks like for me in the summer. Spoiler alert: Not much. Enjoy.
7:30 AM- Wake up, hit hotel gym for a run, bike, arm, ab hybrid workout. In other words, I had zero focus and bounced around the whole time.
9:00 AM- Head up to the concierge level for breakfast. Thank you, Marriott Gold Status, for the free breakfast and copious amounts of coffee.
I’ve realized there are certain things I’ll eat on the road that I never eat at home, even though they’re amazing. Eggs with cheese and salsa on top is one of those things. Plus the extra coffee. I don’t NEED coffee, but when it’s offered I rarely turn it down.
After showering and dressing, I spend the entire morning researching wineries for the bachelorette party I’m planning…I successfully find a company and book our excursion. Yay!
Head down to the main hotel restaurant for lunch. I order a club sandwich with fruit and am delighted about the fact that I have a whole comfy booth to myself, complete with a little TV, on which I can watch Fixer Upper. #perfection.
Head out to my college fair. I tote my stuff up to the main building, get set up, and watch while every single student waits in line to speak with the rep from Duke.
In other news, while I people watched and waited for kids to talk to me, I learned that apparently Birkenstocks are back in style. I’ll let you mull over that one….
I’m back at the hotel and trying to save a buck. Instead of going out to dinner, I check out the concierge lounge again, where they are serving salad and snacks. I load a plate with salad and artichoke dip in an attempt to simulate a real dinner.
Surprisingly, it works.
I head down to the hotel lounge, thinking I’ll order something else, but end up just having wine instead since I’m no longer hungry, despite staring at the menu for 10 minutes.
No, I realize it’s not the best nutritional goal, but I’m just trying to be real with you. I end up having a couple glasses and meeting some awesome women who share their stories about their own work travel. It’s pretty awesome when you meet people who are as crazy about their jobs as I am. We end up chatting for over an hour before our respective yoga pants start calling our names. #kindredspirits.
I crawl into bed, type up this blog post, and relish the feeling of relaxing in a super comfy bed. Good night, world, you’ve been awesome!
Today I’m headed back up to VA, where I’ll probably just drop off my rental car and head home. I’ll catch you guys later!
