Happy Monday, friends! It was pretty busy over here in Williamsburg this weekend, thanks to the Grand Illuminations celebration. Since Riley is a scrooge, we didn’t go this year (“50,000 people babe. We’re not doing that.”), but I’ve been before so it’s not like I don’t know what happens.
I was pretty busy this weekend doing Christmas shopping and crossing things off lists. I also went mattress shopping and ended up buying one! We first bought our king mattress when we moved in together, which was over 7 years ago. It’s since become a total piece of crap and my back has been killing me. I bought one at the second store I visited, after convincing the sales guy to give me a really good deal and throw in $300 worth of cooling gel/lavender scented/memory foam pillows for free. I was pretty stoked about my negotiating skills and the mattress will arrive this Saturday.
After my productive shopping/cleaning/mattress day, I made a yummy pomegranate champagne cocktail and kicked up my feet by the fire.
It was awesome, so I’ll share the recipe with you later!
Sunday morning started out with a fun outing to Colonial Williamsburg with Bella. A couple weeks ago, my yoga teacher found my blog and told me that she takes photos for fun and wanted to do some head shots and pics for me. I thought it was a great idea, so I took the pup with me to get in some shots of us around town. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!
After getting home, I was Bella’s favorite person in the world. Despite being less than enthusiastic during the photo shoot, she loves going on outings and was glued to my side for the next couple hours.
Riley got home from work around lunch time and I surprised him by cooking Sunday brunch. As you know, that’s usually Riley’s job, but I felt like doing something “wifely,” so I whipped up a crustless quiche (or is it a frittata? What’s the difference between frittata and crustless quiche?), maple chicken breakfast sausage, bacon, and hash brown patties. It was just about done as he walked in the door and he was thrilled with my efforts. Hope he doesn’t expect this next weekend.
The rest of the day was pretty relaxed. I finished my binge of Gilmore Girls and moped around for a while. I’m always sad when a show that I’ve obsessed over is finished. Maybe I’ll just start from the beginning again. Yep, I’ll probably do that. I just can’t let go.
Today I’m headed up to Richmond for work. We’re hosting a couple receptions for admission, so I’ll be mingling and dining in style all day and into the evening. Should be long, but fun!
Weekly Workout Plan
I wanted to share my workout agenda for the week. It’ll be a busy one, so hopefully putting things on paper (figuratively speaking) will keep me accountable.
- Monday- Steady treadmill run & ab work
- Tuesday- Hot Yoga class
- Wednesday- HIIT treadmill run & upper body workout
- Thursday- Rest
- Friday- Hot Vinyasa yoga class
- Saturday- Jumping jacks on new mattress. I heard it’s a good way to help “break in” those memory foam matresses
- Sunday- Rest/long walk with Bella
Have a great start to your week!
