Greetings from Charlotte! I’m currently enjoying a great week here in the Queen City, visiting high schools and collecting goody bags filled with crackers and candy. I got two Tervis tumblers last year, so I have high expectations.
For this week’s WIAW I thought I’d switch it up and do a “Day in the life” post. I haven’t done one in a while and I love it when other people do, so there ya go. I’ll be linking up with Jenn, so head over afterwards to see what all the other bloggers are eating these days.
6:00 AM- Alarm goes off. Nope. The hotel blackout curtains are too good at their job, so I hit snooze until 6:45.
6:45 AM- Shower, put on makeup and get ready.
7:15 AM- Head downstairs for breakfast and coffee. I ordered a grande Americano and one of their yogurt parfaits and chowed down while watching CNN.
7:40 AM- Head out for my first high school visit of the day!
8:00 AM- Meet with guidance counselors to talk about my college. No students came to see me. Booooo 🙁
8:20 AM- Take selfies in the car with my camera to post on Instagram, since I currently have nothing to do until my next visit.
9:00 AM- Next high school visit. Repeat of visit #1. Well, this day is easy so far!
Eat a mini Reese’s cup from my latest goody bag. I swear, these high schools are trying to kill me. I WILL manage to resist the rest of the candy. I will…
11:15 AM- Head back out for final high school visit of the day.
12:45 PM- Arrive back at hotel and grab leftovers for lunch. Monday night I had the Skinnylicious cobb salad from The Cheesecake Factory and took half back to my hotel. Here’s a picture from when it was pretty at the restaurant.
I apparently picked out all the good stuff, because my leftovers were basically soggy lettuce with a stray piece of bacon. It was less than ideal.
I ate a Kashi bar that I’d packed to supplement my lunch.
1:45 PM- Threw on some gym clothes and headed out to a local park for a run.
It was a gorgeous afternoon! The park was beautiful and I took a lap around the pond to start.
Then I discovered a long path that made its way into the downtown area (though I think it’s called Uptown here. I have no idea why). It was gorgeous and every time I thought about turning around I wanted to keep going just to see what was next.
I took several walking breaks to change my music, take pictures, and run into a restroom. I have no idea what time I finished, but I traced my steps on Map My Run when I got back to the hotel and it said I covered a little over 5.5 miles.
Back at the hotel, I chugged this whole bottle in 30 seconds.
5:30 PM- After a shower, more emails, and more work stuff, I ventured out for something to eat. Everyone had told me I needed to check out a place called Cowfish, which is a fusion of sushi and burgers. I arrived and ordered a Cucumber/mint/lemon martini. It was super refreshing and I totally want to recreate it at home!
Their menu was HUGE and overwhelming, so I ordered their Bento box, which was a combo of several different things, including a specialty sushi roll and a slider version of their burger of the day.
I loved the pickled cucumbers included with the meal. It was so much food, though! I polished off the burger and sushi, but barely made a dent in the rest before calling it quits.
6: 15 PM- Walk around the mall next door, using my free coupons and chatting with the super nice girls at the Lululemon store.
7:30 PM- Head back to the hotel and do some more work on my laptop, do some blog stuff, and read in bed.
10:00 PM- Lights out!
I just realized how long that was, so I hope you’re still with me. On that note, I’ll leave you for the day. Have a great Wednesday!
What’s the best thing you ate yesterday?
Sushi or burgers?
If you could create a restaurant that fused your two favorites foods, what would it be?
