I totally dipped out on you guys last week. Sorry! I got pretty busy towards the end of the week and despite my good intentions, blogging just fell to the bottom of the priority list. It’s all good, though, because I’m back and well-rested after a great weekend.
Saturday was deemed Riley and I’s “lazy day” and I definitely got into the spirit of it. After grocery shopping for the week, I crawled back into bed for a nap and some reading. The weather was absolutely perfect, so I also spent some time out on the back deck reading and enjoying the warm breeze.
My favorite girls joined me. They tend to follow me around wherever I go.
Saturday night was homemade pizza night. Riley topped our pizza with chicken sausage and onions. Per usual, it was incredible.
We also drank all the good wine in the house. Since I’m attempting to stick to a strict grocery budget, it looks like I’m out of luck for the rest of the week.
Oh, and I also make a pumpkin cake. Riley gave me crap about having a million cans of pumpkin still in our pantry and challenged me to do something about it. I made this cake, but it was just ok. Tasted more like pumpkin bread than cake.
Sunday we were feeling a little more motivated to get out of the house. We started the day with some brunch at Aromas, one of my favorite Williamsburg spots.
I went completely out of character and ordered the huevo rancheros egg scramble, which came with toast. I ordered home fries on the side.
I got about halfway through before calling it quits. I had big ambitions for my brunch, but they give you a ton of food and I couldn’t keep up.
After brunch, we walked a little over a mile through town, stopping to say hi to the horses.
Then came my favorite part of the weekend- beach time!
I’m sporting some mad tan lines these days, considering I’ve been at this beach almost every weekend this summer. I always feel so lucky that we live less than 10 minutes away from this place!
We spent most of the afternoon reading, swimming, and soaking in the sunshine.
After the beach, we stopped at 7-11 for slurpees, which has become part of our weekly post-beach routine.
And that was my weekend! Riley has to work this upcoming weekend, so it was nice to enjoy a couple days off together.
Now it’s time to get the week started! I was a bit of a slacker in the workout department, so I need to get back on track with that. I haven’t been to hot yoga in a couple of weeks, so I’m excited about getting to class tomorrow. I also plan on getting outside for walks around campus as much as possible since it’s supposed to be in the mid-80s all week. Anything under 90 degrees is basically a luxury in August around here, so I’m pumped.
Have a great Monday!
What was the highlight of your weekend?
Do you prefer relaxing weekends or ones packed with activities? I usually want a combination of both. I need one fun day and one lazy day. That way I feel refreshed, but also like I did something with my time off!
