Four years ago I waited anxiously in a hotel room. I had sunburn lines that our photographer had been scolding me about all weekend, but I didn’t care. I was minutes away from marrying my best friend.
My dad walked me down the aisle while onlookers sipped their margaritas and watched from the pool deck. I didn’t even see them.
I said my vows to Riley on a pristine beach to the sound of wind and waves crashing.
We sipped champagne, ate hors d’oeuvres, took pictures on the beach, and listened to Bob Marley while the sun went down.
We ate dinner together, gave speeches, cut the cake, and finished off with some famous Mayan coffee.
The next morning, Riley and I played in the water and relished the fact that we’d just gotten married in paradise, surrounded by friends and family. We had a seriously good time.
Today we’re celebrating our anniversary in St. Thomas with the same guy who performed our ceremony in Mexico four years ago.
I haven’t regretted a minute of the past four years and I’m so happy to be married to a loving, loyal, kind, funny, and giving man.
Happy Anniversary, Riley!
