Happy Monday! To say I’m enjoying my vacation would be an understatement. If you missed my Christmas recap, you can check it out here. I had a great Christmas with friends and family and now I’m excited to head into New Year’s week.
As soon as Christmas day was over, I took down all our decorations. I’m not a scrooge, I promise! I’ve just always taken down my stuff the day after Christmas. Maybe it’s the OCD part of my brain, but I feel so much better when all the clutter is put away and the house is cleaned up again. That, and I also got sick of Captain destroying all our ornaments.
I had a low-key, but enjoyable weekend. Saturday, I attended my usual 75 minute hot flow class. I’d hit up TJ Maxx and found some cute new workout gear that I was excited to wear to class. If you have a TJ Maxx near you, they’ve got a TON of workout gear right now!
I decided during yoga class that I need to learn how to do the bird of paradise move. Half the class did it on Saturday and I felt left out, so I’m adding that move to my NY resolution list. How hard can it be?? If you know how to do it, give me your tips!
After yoga, I stopped by the outlet mall to check out some of the sales before things got busy, then headed home to grab Bella for a long walk. The weather here has been amazing- in the upper 50’s- and it’s been fantastic outside. Bella and I headed all the way out the neighborhood and across the street to the Starbucks by the outlets. Sadly, Bella wasn’t allowed inside, but a nice lady volunteered to sit outside and pet her so I could get my skinny peppermint mocha.
I essentially stayed in my gross hot yoga clothes for over 4 hours, but I didn’t mind because I just enjoyed being outside as much as possible.
The rest of the weekend was spent running errands and relaxing at home with my new Kindle. Coco and Captain (aka The Twins) were thrilled to snuggle any time I laid down for 5 minutes.
Food-wise, I enjoyed a lot of eggs and mostly healthy meals. My version of weekend breakfast:
Aaaaand, of course, homemade pizza night on Saturday.
Basically, it’s been awesome. I’m losing track of the days and sleeping in late, which is such a treat. On today’s agenda is a workout, a visit with my parents, and a trip to the dentist. I haven’t seen the dentist in like 7 years, so I’m super nervous. I’ve never had a cavity before <knock on wood>, so I’m hoping that hasn’t changed since my last visit!
35 Minute HIIT Treadmill Workout
I want to start out our week by sharing a HIIT treadmill workout with you. Many times I just wing it when I get on the treadmill. I’ll start with a steady run, then get antsy (or bored) and decide to switch it up. This is a more organized version of one of my typical treadmill runs. With all the sweets and indulgences over the holidays, I hope this helps you to work up a good sweat before ringing in the new year!
Have a good one!
