Hey friends! I feel like I’m popping in less and less the closer we get to the holidays, but there’s a lot to do before I can take off for a couple weeks. Yesterday was a great day, despite us being busy at work, because we were able to break for a couple hours and celebrate before the holidays. A few years ago, I organized a chili cook-off in our office and over the years it’s morphed to join with our yearly holiday party. Now it’s turned into a chili cook-off/potluck/white elephant gift exchange.
First, though, lemme back up and talk about the rest of my food, since I’m also linking up with Jenn for WIAW today.
I was running late all morning, getting a pot roast in the crock pot and getting ready for work, so I wasn’t able to make a real breakfast. Instead, I got to work and raided my snack drawer and mini fridge to make a relatively solid first meal.
I grazed for the first hour of the work day and eventually felt satisfied.
For lunch, we all gathered in a meeting area to start the holiday chili festivities!
Everyone brought SO much food and there were six different chilis competing. I couldn’t seem to get it together this year, so for the first time in 5 years I didn’t actually make chili. I did try some really good ones, though, including this white chicken chili that was the bomb.
I also loaded up with some yummy sides that people brought.
It was a blast to kick back for a little while with my co-workers before the holidays and take a break from application reading. I even suckered my best work friend, Yoma, into taking a picture with me, which basically NEVER happens. Somehow, she puts up with me and still agrees to have lunch with me at least once a week.
As far as the gift exchange goes, I went home with a nice bottle of wine, which you all know made me one happy girl.
Dinner was ready for me as soon as I got home, thanks to some prep this morning. I thew a pot roast in the crock pot on top of some chopped carrots and potatoes. On the side I had some roasted brussels sprouts. Simple and easy!
A nice glass of wine to go with it, of course, courtesy of my prize from the gift exchange.
Happy Wednesday, friends, hope it’s a good one!
