Me: “Hey guys, remember that time we decided that jaeger bombs were a really good idea?”
Megan: “………..I do now….”
Thursday morning was rough.
All of us were feeling the effects, but agreed it had been totally worth it. Kate had to drive back to LA to make it to work and she left way later than she meant to. Megan and I had some recovering to do, so we headed out to the hotel pool to recoup.
After a lazy day at the pool, we rallied and got dressed to head down the strip to the MGM Grand. We made sure to take a few pictures of the strip at night too.
We had tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil’s show, KÀ, and Megan had scored us an awesome deal. First, though, we went to an early dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant. I ordered the special, which was a southern style fried chicken sandwich. Totally bad for you, but amazing.
*SIDE NOTE: There will be no What I Ate Wednesday tomorrow for Vegas because I ate like a poor college student all week. Every chance I could eat sliders and french fries, I did. I skipped way too many meals because I lost track of time, I ate free cheese cubes and crackers and tried to call it “dinner”, and I drank my weight in margaritas. And no, I won’t tell you how much I weigh. We will resume healthy living on Thursday.
Anyway, back to our night. After dinner, we had time to kill before the show so we hit up the casino to do some gambling. I’m not much of a gambler because I’m a cheapskate and tight with my money, but I did play some video poker, which was pretty fun. Megan got pretty hooked on the video black jack and I had to tear her away a couple times.
I kept finding “how to stop your gambling addiction” brochures at the ATMs and tried to shove them into Megan’s purse whenever she wasn’t looking.
Finally, it was time to go see Cirque Du Soleil! We headed into the theater and were greeted with all kinds of cool characters.
The ushers were super scary about camera use, so I didn’t get a picture of the theater, but we were in the fourth row! People were literally flying above our heads and the show was incredible.
Here’s a preview so you can get a taste of what we saw:
The rest of the evening was pretty low key. We did some more gambling, got a late snack, and decided to turn in early and rest up for the day ahead.
Oh and we checked in on Katie too….
Our last day in Vegas was an absolute blast! Megan and I had tickets to see the DJ Afrojack play at Wet Republic, a huge pool party at the MGM Grand.
We heard there was virtually no shade unless you shelled out $7,000 for a cabana (ha!), so we got there early to try and snag a good spot.
It took four different lines and more security than the D.C. airport to get inside, but we finally made it! We’d made some friends in line and they shared their shady spot with us and partied with us all day.
The pool party was one of the funnest days ever. The cocktails were crazy expensive, but they were really strong to make up for it. Maybe a bit too strong, but I was in Vegas so…. whatever.
As the afternoon went on, the party got a little crazier until Afrojack showed up and things got a LOT crazier.
The place was absolutely packed and the dance floor was just as insane as the pool. The music was awesome and we ended up staying until around 5:00. After six hours of day drinking, standing in the sun, and dancing for two hours, I was totally spent! Our flights left super early on Saturday morning, so it was a good thing we chose to do our 4th of July celebrating during the day.
After an 8:30 AM flight, two time changes, and a two hour delay on our last flight, I was ready to tackle the three hour drive home when I stopped for gas and my car wouldn’t start back up. Luckily, a good samaritan jumped my car for me, and I finally made it home by midnight. It was worth every bit of trouble, though. Vegas was a blast and I can’t wait to go back!
Ever been to Vegas?
What’s the craziest holiday party you’ve been to? Vegas pretty much takes the cake on this one. We literally got sprayed by champagne by the staff at one point, so basically my life is complete.
