You guys, I’m a total failure. You know how people make a big deal out of their blogging anniversaries and everyone’s all excited about it?
Well, I missed mine. Yep, apparently Sunday was my one-year blogging anniversary. I’m a failure, but it’s fine because we’re going to make up for it today.
To celebrate a full year in blog-land, I thought I’d interview myself.
Just go with it…
So Kelly, tell us, why did you decide to start a blog?
I love to work out and eat healthy foods, but I didn’t want to be “that girl” to all my friends and family. You know which girl I’m talking about – the one who constantly posts on facebook five times a day about how GREAT she feels after her workout and how EVERYONE should join a gym and get MOTIVATED!!! It just seemed a little preachy to me, especially since I knew only a handful of people would actually care.
With a blog, I knew I’d have an audience of like-minded people who could share in my enthusiasm for health and fitness and I’d have an outlet to discuss my passions.
The second reason I started my blog was that I really love the idea of having a place to document my life. Although I wish I’d started before some major events (like my wedding), I have the chance now to look back on things that have happened and remember them.
What’s surprised you the most about blogging?
The blogging community in general! I had no idea I’d form so many connections with people from all over the world who shared my interests. I love having a positive place to share my workouts, meals, healthy successes (and pizza failures), and hopefully along the way I’ve managed to inspire a few people as well. I’ve been really surprised with how much I love the HLB community!
What are your favorite posts from the last year?
I’m so glad you asked! This has been an exciting and hectic year for me. I’ve loved sharing general life stuff with you all in between my workouts. From getting promoted at work to celebrating Riley and I’s three-year anniversary in Mexico (recaps One and Two), I’ve had some great times this year.
In the health and fitness realm, I shared a little running inspiration for when you feel overwhelmed by life.
I talked about the pros and cons of logging food.
I talked about letting go of your “best” body and how to embrace the balance between living life and being a health nut.
I also tried some new things, thanks to inspiration from the blogging world. Despite being pretty lazy in the kitchen, I made energy balls for the first time.
I made some tasty Greek yogurt protein pancakes.
I also created some great workouts that I hope you all have enjoyed!
I started a blog not knowing if I’d even last a week. Instead, I surprised myself and got totally hooked. It’s been a great year and I can’t wait to see what will happen with this little blog down the road.
Whether you’re a faithful reader or just stop by every now and then, thank you so much for reading. I can’t even tell you how thankful I am that you’re a part of my life!
If you blog, what do you enjoy most about it?
If you don’t blog, what do you like reading about the most?
