Well, hello, my lovely friends. How was your weekend? Mine seriously went by in a flash! I’ve been fighting off what feels like the beginnings of a cold. I’m sneezing a bunch and I’ve got a sore throat, but thanks to lots of Airborne it seems to be staying on the sidelines. Which is good, since this week promises to be just as busy as last week.
I should mention that I hate throwing that word around- “busy.” We’re all busy, aren’t we? While I certainly have weeks where I feel like I literally have nothing left to give by the end of the work day, they’re relatively few and far between. I just need to remember that this time of year doesn’t last and I’ll be sitting on the beach during my 3-day weekend in no time!
I didn’t have a lot going on this weekend, aside from That Thing that took up most people’s attention:
Wait, really? I had no idea! I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden my iPhone started sending me notifications about news and I did not authorize my phone to do that. Pretty sure the whole planet was paying attention to Friday’s events. Anyway. We won’t go there.
My weekend started out with a farewell to our friend, Wally. Wally is moving to Ft. Lauderdale next week, so we went out to Fat Tuna with friends Friday evening. I also did my first and last oyster shooter. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my story about this. It was horrible and it’ll never happen again.
We ate ALL the seafood on Friday and it was awesome. I made a decision this year that I would learn to like oysters and, aside from the whole shooter situation, it’s been working.
Riley went for the creepy seafood options.
Saturday was spent working and taking cold medicine. I went to bed super early and got a solid 9 hours!
Sunday was a productive day. Despite feeling run-down, I still dragged my ass to the gym, Target, TJs, and Food Lion. I also did a thorough cleaning of the house before heading down to campus for a sorority meeting. Earlier in the year I agreed to be the faculty/staff adviser for my old chapter and it was a little weird going to a meeting for the first time in almost 10 years.
Weekly Workout Plan
I haven’t done one of these in a couple weeks, but I feel like the busy weeks need a plan even more than the slow ones! Here’s what I’m tentatively planning for this week:
- Monday- Rest
- Tuesday- Barre
- Wednesday- 3 mile run and arms at the gym
- Thursday- Hot yoga
- Friday- HIIT run and abs
- Saturday- Rest
- Sunday- Barre or hot yoga
I’ve also started making a list of little things I plan to do for myself. I’ve decided that this week I’ll….
- Take at least one bubble bath
- Take a late afternoon tea break every day at work. A bunch of my co-workers are also big tea drinkers, so we’ve been sharing our favorites. I’m hoping I can convince them to join me in my office for a few minutes in the afternoon to take a mini break
Have a great start to your week!
