Where is October going?! Can you believe we only have one full week left of this month? I shouldn’t be surprised, considering there’s already Christmas stuff popping up in the stores.
It’s finally the end of the week, though, so that’s definitely cause for celebration. I’ve got a few appointments this morning, then I’ll be making the drive home. I can’t wait to be back home for good! It’s been a pretty good week overall, though, so I’m linking up with Heather to share my favorite things from the past few days.
Even though I live across the street from an outlet mall, there’s one store that’s missing: a Sperry outlet. The outlet mall up here has one, though, and I literally could not resist their buy one, get one 40% off deal. I treated myself to a new pair of shoes and this super soft infinity scarf.
Breakfast is always my favorite meal of the day, but I like to step it up a bit when I’m on the road. My hotel had an impressive breakfast spread every day and I took full advantage.
I always want to drink orange juice when I’m on the road. I have no idea why because I literally never buy OJ for the house, but for some reason it just tastes so good at the hotel. I also put salsa on my eggs, which never happens at home. Anyone else eat stuff on trips that you never eat normally?
Yay for new music! I love The Weeknd and his newest song, Songboy, has been on repeat on my spotify app all week long.
Orange Theory Fitness
I finally made it to an Orangetheory Fitness class!! A few months ago, I signed up early to try out a new studio near my work. I got locked in to a lower rate and for the free two week trial, not knowing when they would officially open.
Well, they opened the studio and week #1 I was sick as a dog, and week #2 I was out of town. Womp womp! The staff members were super sympathetic and they called the closest studio to my hotel and asked if they’d let me take a free class while I’m up here so I could try it out.
I arrived at the studio super early so I could get the run-down on what to expect. After getting my heart rate monitor set up and meeting the instructor, we were off! The class divided into two groups and I started in the rowing/strength group. For the first half of class I alternated rowing intervals with strength circuits like squat thrusts, burpees, static lunges, etc. The second half of class was spent doing intervals on the treadmill. You can choose to be a power walker, jogger, or runner. I actually opted for the walking since I hadn’t worked out much the past few weeks and didn’t know what to expect. The walking doesn’t give you a pass, though! We were booking it at a 15% incline and I was a sweaty mess by the end.
I loved that you could glance up at the giant TV screen and track your progress throughout the whole workout. My heart rate was actually pretty high throughout the whole hour, so I’m interested to see how that works out in future OTF classes.
The coolest part about OTF is that every day all of the OTF studios nationwide do the same workout and it’s never the same workout twice. I’m pretty excited to try more classes!
Dinner with Megan
My best friend Megan lives in D.C., so we got together last night to catch up before I left town. I can’t believe it’s already been over a month since her wedding!
We met up near Tyson’s Corner mall and grabbed dinner at Barrel and Bushel.
We split some pretty delicious BLT biscuit sliders and fries.
It was so great to catch up with her! Somehow, in 2 1/2 hours we managed to cover just about every topic in our lives and it made me wish we lived closer to each other.
I’m going to wrap it up on that note! I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed tonight and see my favorite person in the world. Have a great weekend, friends, and I’ll see you on Monday!
What’s one thing that made you smile this week?
